Yes / Fragile super deluxe edition
4CD+blu-ray+LP box set

Yes’ 1972 album Fragile is being reissued as a six-disc super deluxe edition.
The 4CD+blu-ray+LP set features a newly remastered version of the original album, new 2024 stereo mixes, instrumental mixes, rarities, live recordings and more.
Fragile marked keyboardist Rick Wakeman’s debut with Yes, which included Jon Anderson (lead vocals), Chris Squire (bass, vocals), Bill Bruford (drums), and Steve Howe (guitar). After he joined in the summer of 1971, the band recorded nine songs for the album, four group arrangements (‘Roundabout’), and five individual compositions, including Anderson’s ‘We Have Heaven’ and Howe’s instrumental ‘Mood For A Day’.

The blu-ray offers five versions of the album, with everything bar the remaster newly mixed by Steven Wilson.
- 2024 Dolby Atmos Mix
- 2024 5.1 mix
- 2024 New Stereo Mix
- 2024 Instrumentals
- 2024 Remaster of Original Mix
The lacquers for the included vinyl record have been cut by audio engineer Bernie Grundman. This new reissue of Fragile will be packaged the same as The Yes album and comes with a booklet.
It will be released on 28 June 2024, via Rhino.

CD 1: Original Album Remastered
Warners has made a major mistake on the new release of ‘Fragile’.
They have mistakenly put a Terry Reid track called ‘The Dean’ on to the album.
Here is ‘The Dean’ track from the ‘Fragile’ box set – it’s on the YesOfficial YouTube page:
https://youtu.be/QwBwc0_vKPQ?si=_YXXz39y7KAD-Xzr
This is clearly not Jon Anderson singing. It’s a Terry Reid song for which you can hear the instrumentation here:

I did not manage to get a copy of the surround version and now the prices are almost the same as this set so I am all in. I get the dissatisfaction from others who have the earlier versions but for those of us who don’t this is a great set and I just got mine for $72 from Deep Discounts…. so it was a no brainer.
Mmm.. the beginning of “Long Distance Runaround/The Fish [Schindleria Praematurus]” [Live NYC] is missing
Hang on. Mr Wilson remixed Fragile in 2015, of which I have a copy and sounds just fine to me. Why has there been a need for a remaster? Is there really a need for this?( yes I know the difference between remix and remaster). I’ll wait for someone to do a side by side comparison. If you want the Atmos mix, it’s a lot to fork out just to get that.
I love the “Yes Album” box and I am excited about “Fragile” getting the same treatment. Waiting for the price to go down a bit before I pre-order. Lets hope a “Close to the Edge” box is next………….
Deep Discounts has it for $72 with the added “Sharkie” discount.
With exception of the Yes Album, I missed all of their previous surround/blu-ray editions. Looking forward to buying the Fragile box, and truly hope they will release a similar cd/blu-ray/LP box for Drama, my favorite one.
Well, as much as I’d love to have the Atmos version? I’m not forking over the incredible amount they’re asking! So I already have the 2016 5.1 release, and will hold out(hopefully) for a stand-alone Atmos release.
It doesn’t make much sense to release this box set with the excuse of offering the Dolby Atmos mix, at this price and without the possibility of only purchasing the blu-ray. Typical and abusive “all or nothing” strategy. And it doesn’t make sense when not long ago they already sold us the mix in surround format. As always, abusing the band’s fans and especially the physical format buyers.
Some of us did not get the earlier version so this is a great thing and deal. Each to their own. I certainly don’t feel abused.
Blimey, how many times has Fragile been reissued on CD?!! It goes without saying that this is a superb album, but like others I find the mix of formats, and the subsequent price hike, very off-putting. If only they’d taken a leaf out of the Tull/Crimson book on how to do a great, well-priced reissue. I would have jumped at a four-disc CD set, and as I don’t have a surround setup there really is little here to tempt me above the 2015 version.
Oh, and Rhino.com USA is offering the set bundled with a 12″ litho of the cover signed by Roger Dean, limited to 500. For the “bargain” price of $149.98. Well, 499 left now, since I gave in to temptation. Can’t wait for CTTE and TFTO.
I skipped the litho…Amazon US has the box now for $99.99
Despite owning all of the BluRay 5.1 editions that came out in 2014/2015, I would have purchased the new versions of Fragile and TYA had it not been for the inclusion of vinyl. I just have no use for it.
Hopefully this time we get the unique mix of AMERICA, which is only available on a sampler from 1972 called „The New Age Of Atlantic“.
“America” was on the 2002 “Fragile” DVD-A, and also on the blu-ray release from 2015.
On the subject of mixed format SDE’s, I can understand people preferring to listen to either cd OR vinyl (I’ll leave out the 5.1 brigade for now) but how many individuals listen to both and why? I love Fragile, it was the first Yes album I heard and indeed bought back in 1971 and for that reason I don’t need another vinyl copy…this SDE is overkill for me as I only play cd’s now. How about a new cd only remaster and a vinyl only remaster etc, i.e. sold separately? I’m STILL waiting for a decent remaster of Going For The One and Tormato, the last versions came out 20 years ago!
I have a friend who always listens to Jazz on vinyl. He feels that *that* is the format for Jazz. But he happily buys and listens to loads of CDs for rock/pop (and stills buys vinyl for rock/pop, as well).
I am similar – a lot of Jazz just feels right on vinyl (although the Rudy Van Gelder remixes on CD are excellent, making it hard to believe the album was recorded recently).
Regarding Fragile, I have lots of copies on CD already, so it is the vinyl I would be interested in buying, but it doesn’t appear to be available separately this time.
I have several albums on both formats and I listen to them alternatively on CD or vinyl. It’s not exactly the same thing, it’s a different listening experience each Time.
That would still leave the question if your friend buys an album in two different formats at the same time… if he isn’t forced by a record company to do so.
Correct
Different formats for different styles of music fair enough but not for the same album, surely e.g. Fragile?
No.
The last remasters of Going For The One and Tormato came out 15 years ago, in 2009. Parts of a 15-title reissue campaign, they were remastered by Isao Kikuchi, and released exclusively in Japan, on SHM-CD format packaged in mini-LP replica sleeves. Here is a link to the series: https://www.discogs.com/label/596425-%E3%82%A4%E3%82%A8%E3%82%B9%E7%B4%99%E3%82%B8%E3%83%A3%E3%82%B1%E3%83%83%E3%83%88%E3%82%B3%E3%83%AC%E3%82%AF%E3%82%B7%E3%83%A7%E3%83%B3-SHM-CD-%E3%82%A8%E3%83%87%E3%82%A3%E3%82%B7%E3%83%A7%E3%83%B3?page=1
If I remember correctly, those remasters were not well received at all, they slammed the levels.
Tormato really could do with a remix, apparently the tracks sound much better with Dolby but the engineers weren’t aware at the time that it was partially recorded with Dolby enabled.
I thought that the multi-track masters for GFTO were (currently) lost.
Having got the earlier sets I think I will wait until hopeful 90125 and the inevitable re-re-re-issue of Tales From Topographic Oceans…..
For the most part, redundant. Steven Wilson already did this one up a couple years back in surround, et al. Also, forget the vinyl. The Atlantic 75 series 2×45 is going to be the new benchmark when its released, likely in the next couple of months.
I really hope that at some point we can get stand-alone Blu-ray’s of the Atmos mixes of this and the Yes album. I have all the Yes 5.1 Blu-ray’s but even via streaming services the Atmos mix of the Yes album sounds SO good. I just don’t need or want all the additional material/vinyl, though I appreciate some may. I kind of wish that Steven Wilson would stop revisiting his previous 5.1 mixes and redoing them in Atmos. He’s so damned good at it, I know I’ll be tempted. For perhaps the first time record companies are now exploiting us lovers of spatial audio by packaging previous released albums we’ve bought with 5.1 mixes with new versions in Atmos. Pink Floyd -Animals as a classic example. EMI must have known an Atmos mix was in the pipeline when they released the 5.1 blu-ray last year. Ah well, could be worse. 10 years ago I thought 5.1/ spatial audio would be dead in the water by now. Now, if only the next 2 SDE releases could be the Yes album and Fragile, I would willingly part with my hard earned sheckles. I live in hope
I love the effort but do we really need THAT many mixes of one album? I admit that listening to the bass in Roundabout will be exhilarating but four mixes of the vocals may be very generous.
Fantastic album. But I’ll pass. The 2015 reissue is good enough for me, with hi-res audio on Blu-Ray disc and many of the same bonus tracks. I don’t need new mixes yet again.
This announcement confirms Close to the Edge will get an SDE soon. :D
I’ve kept looking at the set for The Yes Album, but haven’t seen a great price in the UK (there have been some foreign sites with better pricing, but I don’t buy music internationally unless it’s the only choice). Guess it’s time to start looking into it a little more closely.
Can’t we just have the BluRay Audio? [Please]
Exactly!
Still do not understand the combined packages of vinyl and (compact – blu-ray) discs
I’d rather this was 90125.
If you’re looking for a vinyl edition of 90125, it’s just been re-released as part of the Acoustic Sounds ‘Atlantic 75’th’ series with a remaster from Kevin Gray. Garnering lots of props over at Hoffman forums.
There are two versions available: double vinyl 45rpm and SACD, $60 and $35 each. I will check Hoffmann to see which one they are talking about.
Yep!
It’s WAY past time for “90125” and “Big Generator” to get the (DEDICATED) 96/24 5.1 (STEVEN WILSON) mixes they deserve.
Throw in the (SW) ATMOS mixes for good measure.
Long overdue indeed. Both need proper SDE editions too.
