Beach Boys legend is gone

Brian Wilson, co-founder of the Beach Boys, has died at the age of 82.

His family announced the passing of the songwriting legend whose news in the last hour, saying “We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away,” his family said in a statement shared online.”We are at a loss for words right now,” they added.

Wilson’s artistic control, songwriting and cutting edge production techniques resulted in many great albums, most notably 1966’s seminal Pet Sounds, a record he created spurred on by his competitive spirit after hearing The BeatlesRubber Soul. Paul McCartney has long acknowledged the influence of Pet Sounds on him and The Beatles In late 1966 and 1967 as they worked on what would become Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
