Now Yearbook 1971 – Extra
61 tracks across three CDs
NOW’s Yearbook 1971 – Extra serves to remind us what a great year 1971 was for rock/pop music.
This 3CD companion set (which, as always, comes in a simple 6-panel card sleeve) features 61 tracks with some big name contributions including from John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band (Power to the People), Paul McCartney & Linda McCartney’s (the US No 1, ‘Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey which was not actually a single in the UK), T Rex (Jeepster), Simon & Garfunkel (‘The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin’ Groovy)’), Cat Stevens (Moonshadow), Marvin Gaye (Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)), and Four Tops & The Supremes (‘River Deep, Mountain High’).
The above are all on CD 1 but other selections on the remaining two discs include Elton John, Jethro Tull, Bob Dylan, Frank Sinatra, Curtis Mayfield, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Jackson 5, and more. Some artists get two tracks including Cat Stevens (‘Peace Train’) and Paul and Linda again with another song from Ram: ‘The Back Seat Of My Car’ (a minor hit in the UK).
Full tracklistings are below. NOW Yearbook 1971 – Extra will be released on 9 October 2026.
