NewsEMF / Schubert Dip expanded edition
4CD box or 2LP coloured vinyl
4CD or 2LP deluxe treatment for ‘Unbelievable’ hitmakers‘ debut
Cherry Red have will release expanded editions of EMF’s 1991 debut album Schubert Dip, in December, in 4CD and 2LP coloured vinyl editions.
Success came quickly for EMF. The indie-dance group formed in late 1989 in the Forest Of Dean and a year later they were in the UK Top 10 with the inescapable ‘Unbelievable’. The track would eventually reach No 3 in the Britain, was a Top 10 hit all over Europe and – even more incredibly – ended up reaching No 1 in the US. The band consolidated this success as ‘I Believe’ followed ‘Unbelievable’ in the top 10 in the UK and ‘Lies’ went top 20 in the USA. While they were never to hit those heights again, Schubert Dip was a hit, selling over a million in the US alone.
The clamshell box 4CD edition features the original album plus remixes, edits, live cuts and a 13-track set of previously unreleased demos recorded at Bath Moles Studio in May 1990. The 2LP set is pressed on translucent orange and green vinyl and includes the original album plus a disc of selected remixes from the 4CD set. Both editions include a booklet with rare imagery, lyrics and sleevenotes with quotes from guitarist Ian Dench and lead singer James Atkin. This marks the first time that the album has been reissued with any bonus tracks at all.
Schubert Dip is out on 4 December 2026 via Cherry Red.
