John Lennon 1940-1980
John Lennon died 31 years ago today.
There’s much that can be said about the man – positive and negative – but I decided that words aren’t really the best way to remember him. So here is an audio/visual reminder of his greatest achievement – The Beatles.
The video above was edited by myself, way back in 1996. Non-linear editing was in its infancy, but I was lucky enough to have access to an Avid Film Composer (an early, expensive version of Final Cut Pro) because at the time I was working in a TV post-production house.
I’d religiously taped The Beatles Anthology programmes in the UK onto VHS, and then had some fun re-editing and playing around with the highlights from the series. It has been in a shoebox for 15 years, but now seemed like a good time to unearth, digitise and share it.
In memory of John Lennon 1940-1980.
