Graham Nash / Over The Years

2CD Anthology • unreleased demos • Now even cheaper UK price!

Rhino looks back at some of Graham Nash‘s best-known recordings from the past 50 years in a new anthology featuring more than a dozen unreleased demos and mixes…

Over The Years is a 30-track collection (curated by Nash and Joel Bernstein) which features highlights from the CSN debut album (Marrakesh Express), CSNY follow-up Deja Vu (Our House, Teach Your Children) and song selections from subsequent CSN albums. Four tracks from Nash’s 1971 solo album Songs For Beginners feature, with Better Days and I Used To Be King presented as unreleased mixes. The most recent recording on the compilation is Myself At Last from Nash’s 2016 solo album This Path Tonight.

The real interest for collectors will be the second disc in this set which features 15 demo recordings, 12 of which have never been released. Highlights include the 1968 London demo of Marrakesh Express (rejected by the Hollies) and early versions of CSN classics like Our House, Wasted On The Way, and Teach Your Children.

“It does my heart good to present my songs this way. I hope that listeners will enjoy hearing the demos of my songs – how my demos of ‘Our House,’ ‘Teach Your Children,’ and others turned into the records that have endured ‘Over The Years,’ how I started writing them, and how they became the now familiar recordings when they were released,” said Nash.

This two-CD set is also incredibly cheap in the UK right now, at just £7.21 which rather makes it hard *not* to purchase it! Update 8/5/18: It’s now £4.99!!

Over The Years will be issued on 29 June 2018. There will be a 2LP vinyl edition (with an etched fourth side) but this doesn’t feature any of the demos and isn’t due until 31 August

Paul, are the demo”s different from the Reflexions Box?
Thanks, Marine.

Marien

Paul are the demo’s different from the Graham Nash Reflections box??

Keith

£4.99 pre order no brainer at all Noone can be making any money at this price.

Larry Davis

And still nothing from 1986’s cool modern “Innocent Eyes” album…

Andy P

This CD is currently down to £4.99 on Amazon UK (@16.05).

Florence

Yo! nearly ordered this last night andwt to look today and now only £4.99 so ordered it, – got to a bargain

Richard

Hi Paul,
Ordered: The Who Singles; Queen-On Air and this. I just want to say thanks! A great price. I’ll pass on G N’ R. They should’ve done the same Blu Ray packaging as XTC. I don’t want four cds, when I can have them use the full capacity of Blu Ray. Better sound quality, too.
Cheers!

Richard Steinkamp
Mark Hanson

Thanks for this. Even with postage to the US, it is still half the price from Amazon US.

Mike the Fish

Not something I would naturally lean towards, but the track listing looks worth checking out!

Paul Wren

Isn’t it strange that there are no demo’s on the vinyl LP edition even thought there is room on the etched fourth side?

B57

love the artwork

greg sinclair

I love the site. I’m not always interested in what’s being talked about. But when I am, it always full of answers I’d be asking questions of. AND you are always saving me money. Twenty fiveish just on Buffalo Springfield and Graham Nash alone.
Looking forward to news and money saving on a hoped for White Album 50th Anniversary box!

greg sinclair

Just checked my email…Amazon UK let me know the Graham Nash went down to £6.01!

Phil Wilson

Greg, are you ordering from the UK, when did you place your order with them (just wondering if mine will go down too)

Duane

Ordered mine from the U.K., cancelled my US order!
Thanks Paul!

Setch

Excuse me, but…where is “Southbound Train”?!?!

Tony Durkin

My favourite track, too

Keith

I like the sleeve that’s about it. Reminds me of snowdonia

Jim Breeds

Seeing him in Bexhill in July. Pre-ordered this as a taster :-)

Adam Shaw

Love CSNY but Nash does get on my nerves and always seems one of the luckiest men in rock and especially after reading his autobiography where he takes credit for most things including the the fall of the Berlin Wall ! But these demos can’t be ignored so I’ll have to give some more money to Mr Nash .

Nigel

Oh, fabulous! I cannot wait to hear the demos. This could be amazing!

Mark Yon

Has gone from a ‘possibly’ to a ‘preorder’! Thanks, Paul.

Aaron

Great price. Great collection. Would have liked to see Barrel of Pain or something from Songs from Survivors. But selection still looks great. No chance of an Earth & Sky reissue?

Kenny

There’s nothing here between “Wasted On The Way” and “Myself At Last”. That’s a gap of almost 35 years. Surely he recorded something worthwhile during that time?

Ralph

Nice one! I don’t really need the first disc but Disc 2 at this price is grand! Horses Through A Rainstorm is presumably the song that became Without Expression on Bang, Bang You’re Terry Reid. Graham is playing a few solo shows in the UK this year. I have a front row seat for the show in Perth.

Carsten Schaefer

Ordered. It was £ 9.99 incl. postage to Germany. Thanks for the heads-up.

Simonf

I have no interest in Graham Nash, so that makes very easy not to purchase!

HUH

So why even comment.

Fenwick

Paul

I really respect you for allowing some of the posts to come through your site that might be deemed a bit controversial etc… But one’s like this one from simonf are so beyond useless. I’m not exactly sure why they pass your moderation “sniff test”.

The only thing a post like this does is raise a red flag that the OP is in dire need of a greater purpose in life.

Paul E.

@Fenwick- Simonf has built up some history, unfortunately, in posting comments just like his recent one here. See the anger he caused during the SDE INXS Kick 30 post last October.
