Nitzer Ebb / 1982-2010: The Box Set
Pylon Records will release Nitzer Ebb 1982-2010: The Box Set, in October, a new 10LP vinyl package that includes newly remastered versions of all five of Nitzer Ebb‘s Mute/Geffen albums and five additional vinyl records of bonus tracks and rarities.
The electronic/industrialists’ career spanning box features expanded double black vinyl sets of That Total Age (1987), Belief (1989), Showtime (1990), Ebbhead (1991) and Big Hit (1995). Each come with several bonus tracks and 12-inch mixes – all curated and remastered by Pylon Records.
The original artwork has also been expanded into gatefold sleeves, with embossing and spot UV finish. It also contains a large size booklet with liner notes by the band’s co-founders Douglas McCarthy and Bon Harris, along with unseen photos, flyers and artwork, detailing their entire career in chronological order from Essex to Los Angeles.
The box set is “wrapped with leather paper” and the UV design is hot foiled stamped. The box also has extra space inside for their first self-released album, Basic Pain Procedure, from 1983 and their last release, Industrial Complex, from 2010, to complete the collection (these titles have been in print in recent years).
A limited coloured vinyl edition of this box set is also available via Pylon Records website.
Nitzer Ebb 1982-2010: The Box Set will released on 12 October 2018.

So I just got the coloured vinyl set and its really well made and the artwork is fantastic. Right up there with many of the best sets out there (and believe me, I have a loooooooooooot of box sets) but what I really find odd is that they include their 1st album here (though oddly not in the black vinyl box version) but don’t include their last album Industrial Complex (2010), even though the boxset is entitled 1982-2010. They say that its widely available to buy and put in the box (they leave space for it), but haven’t had much luck finding it, and when I spot a copy its a crazy price. Pretty sure the vinyl is also 140gm and not the usual 180gm.
I think you need to read the press release, you will understand why BPP was included on the color box and not on black box. Also IC been pressed and repressed over 5 times, just look at discogs you will see. There is copies for $32.99 which is what they were going for when they were available. My DAF and Can box set vinyl is not 180gram.

Pretty Detailed Press release

From Discogs I see all 5 albums getting CD reissues on Oct 19. All are 2-CD except That Total Age and they include additional remixes not on the vinyl reissues.
That is great regarding the CDs, I counted there is 116 tracks on those 5 CDs and 76 of them are bonus tracks. There is no way they could have put all that on vinyl, it would be like 20 Lp box set.
So boring all these“I will not buy it“ comments, also to say vinyl is yesterday‘s format, but asking for cd, is really funny. Which one is more yesterday? Vinyl is now and the day before yesterday. But please, don‘t write if you don‘t buy something. No one is interested in this information!
I`m Missing The Alan Wilder Version of “Family Man”, Originally on “Ebbhead”.
??????????
” Family Man” is produced by Jaz Coleman, the lead singer of Killing Joke, it was featured on the the AS IS Ep, which is featured on Side C of the Ebbhead Deluxe Vinyl on the box set. The track that produced from the AS IS Ep is “Come Alive” that is also on the vinyl. It also looks like all the albums are coming out on CD with all the bonus tracks and remixes, including some that were promos only for the US Dj market.
The Alan Wilder mix of Family Man was only tacked on the US version of Ebbhead.
Nope.
I own the German Vinyl & UK CD. Its also There. Track #10.
A Rerelease without that Version is incomplete for me.
But i did not buy it anyway . Already have all those.
But for newbie` s ?
As a frequent buyer from Pylon’s website, ordered the beautiful colored vinyl box set, I asked that if there will be Cds, they did mention that deluxe expanded CDs will be released and that they are waiting for the band to announce the US dates so they can tie in everything. It seems that the band have some great shows planned and they are trying to thread the needle here. Hopefully it will have lot of the remixes.
Thank you
One decent track. The instrumental of “Murderous”. Which is an almost laugh-inducing DAF knockoff anyway. But as long as people are happy…alles ist gut.
What are the chances we can put some pressure on like with Yazoo and get get this released on CD? Would definitely buy it then. Definitely not interested in the vinyl set.
So if there are 1000 paying fans lets say out there, and probably hole bunch more of new fans based on how often Fixmer/McCarthy play, and all the press that BlackLine got with Depeche Mode,
Someone on this forum is suggesting, there is that many used copies of all these Cd singles, compilation cds, records, etc to cater to the demand. The breakdown I just read, was incredible. Some of us want to support the band, not some used Ebay, Discogs market. Their catalog has never been reissued properly and I doubt that there would be no CDs in the future, if the label spent that much time putting this together.
i guess you didn’t read carefully enough.
the conclusion was, with 2 compilations and the digital one,
you would 80%+ of the tracks, and also at least 20-30 tracks
that aren’t included in a format that’s easy to listen to, on cd
and digital.
all this for a fraction of the price.
if you were a collector like me, who hadn’t kept up, you can still
get all those releases for under the price they’re asking.
i was lucky enough to be around for the releases, but i have no need
in trying to support an overpriced release with barely any value to it.
i always wait for price drops, used items, and other sources.
don’t be naive in thinking the band didn’t get money from all those
items being resold in the first place.
support is fine, when it is warranted, in this case its not.

yes, its work to find copies of the tracks.
but do you want to listen to them, or collect them.
i collect the vinyl, so i don’t care about the quality of them.
i listen to the cd tracks.
also, the digital versions are 320k, and WAV, so i the quality is excellent,
not sure why people wouldn’t think so.
here’s a breakdown of the bonus tracks:
============================
bottom line, getting 2 compilations, and the digital version gets you
23/29 tracks
out of the other 6, only 1 is a hard to find promo/vinyl track…
a lot cheaper than getting this boxset, and getting them on vinyl:

If there’s a band who really needs the 2CD deluxe reissue treatment it’s Nitzer Ebb. (They can skip over Bit Hit if they wish.) Their music’s never really been properly reissued, the Body of Work comp was haphazard, and the digital-only In Order collection was full of errors and vinyl rips. This might be a good start but it’s way overpriced and doesn’t have anything rare.
Interesting, I thought their best track ‘warsaw ghetto’ was not on it, but they sneakily inserted it on ‘that total age’. It was released before that, but would fit in quite well.
It looks like they used the original US LP/cassette track listing for TTA, which included ‘Warsaw Ghetto’. Oddly (and unfortunately) this track was removed for the US CD.
If I purchased all of these used, as they are all deleted, I would spent over $225 and heaven knows what quality it would be, and tack on shipping on each item and still would not have all the remixes. Also Mp3 downloads have no tangible value. A decent copy of TTA costs $30+ and you dont get any remixes with it. Also just checked Itunes USA, none of the bonus tracks that is on this box set is even available to download. That Total Age is not available at all. Also Ebbhead and Big Hit were never released in the US on vinyl and both of those have bonus tracks including the AS IS Ep, and those hard to find Adrian Sherwood Mixes from Big Hit.
I think it is good price, it averages out to about $18 a record, plus you get a box, a booklet and curated by the band. I think it is a great package and I am sure they will release the CDs as well. Original members are back and they are planning a world tour.
We be great to see a reissue campaign for these albums on CD.
What a strange and unusual release. Insultingly overpriced, utterly incomplete (chock full of remixes of some but not all the songs, but not the dozen or so non-album tracks they did), and not on CD. This type of content would come in a “original album series” 5CD for £15, not 10LP’s for £330!
Chime me in on the bandwagon for a CD version, another band I never quite got around to replacing old original copies of albums I once owned and would be great to at least have all the studio recordings in 1 place 1 on shot, just not on vinyl only. Most people reading this kind of news understand wanting a larger format for primarily artwork and potential sound quality, but having a CD option even if it omits some artwork or other bits is still preferable at least to me. Too bad labels and talent haven’t considered doing music-only sets in 1 package and memorabilia/paraphenalia/artwork/trinkets/etc. in separate purchases for those who really only want those sort of items.
I’ve bought a lot of Douglas McCarthy’s solo stuff from Pylon Records and they are great to work with. Last week I asked about digital downloads with the vinyl and/or a future CD release. They replied that Geffen holds all the “digital” rights and Pylon is only offering vinyl at this time with no download code. I would love to have these remastered on CD so I’m a bit bummed.
I’d be interested if there was a CD release of this.
I have a few of their releases on CD and would welcome an overview box set on compact disc but I have no interest in having my pocket gouged for £200-300 for something incomplete on yesterday’s format.
Thanks to neagative1 for the steer to previous releases.
I used to buy a bit of their stuff back in the day ,hardly anyone else did though, so who will shell out that kind of money is mystifying .
CD set please about £30 should cover it.
I would prefer a rerelease box of all their 12 inches. For some reason I see them much more as a 12” single band than as an album band.
Oh yes and the instrumental of let your body learn is missing here.
Anyway they are great so check them out if you don’t know them!
CD please.
Much cheaper at Pylon Records’ website. Plus, the exclusive color version also includes Basic Pain Procedure as an extra LP.
Personally, I have all the recordings on various vinyls and CDs, so I’m probably going to pass, but if you liked the band but never bought the music and want it on vinyl, it’s a nice easy way to catch up.
(To answer a question: there are a lot of missing remixes – NE made a ton of them. But most of the good ones are here, IMHO.)
Color vinyl from Pylon: http://pylonrecords.com/DetailNEBOXCOLOR.html
Would love this on CD, please succumb to prudent pressure like Yazoo did and release on CD!
i’m a fan of the band, but there’s no way i’m paying that much for this boxset.
maybe half of that price.
anyways, this is nowhere near complete. there are tons of remixes of the
early tracks, that aren’t on here.
if you’ve been collecting them. as i have for their first 3 albums. you’re
better off buying each album separately, along with the vinyl 12 inch singles,
and the latter cd-singles.
it’s a much better value that way.

never heard of these but I can only assume they were mates with the mode due to wilder and Clarke remixes
They were on Mute Records in the UK. Hence also Barry Adamson, RSW (Renegade Soundwave) and PK (Paul Kendall).
I would say yes because i saw NE open up for the Mode on the Violator Tour in 1990, Giants Stadium, NJ…this box looks great but would prefer it on CD…nice companion piece to the 2cd comp “Body Of Work”, which I just love…
They were label mates with Depeche Mode and I do believe they supported them during the tour for Violator.
I almost forgot, on top of that Alan Wilder produced the Ebbhead album in return for Douglas McCarthy doing vocals on the Recoil single Faith Healer.
I too would be tempted if this was released on CD.
Jaw-dropping price, peculiar product – something else that will hardly draw newcomers in nor be conclusive enough for the collectors. It might interest some that the Vince Clarke mix of Ascend was only on promo and the cassette single.
love this band…but no way would i buy this, i hope they release them as individual records and not just in this box set
I’d be interested if this was being released on CD.
Yes…….me too.
With all the mixes in one set – it would be just right.
I am not such a big fan to know if any of the mixes are omitted, but it would be good to know if there are……
