Sean Rowley present Guilty Pleasures

Supposed ‘shameful to love’ 70s pop

Back in 2004, UK broadcaster Sean Rowley fronted a CD release called Guilty Pleasures which featured a collection of 70s tunes which were supposedly shameful to love, such as The Alessi Brothers’ ‘Oh Lori’, ‘January’ by Pilot or ‘Howzat’ by Sherbert.

The Guilty Pleasures concept really gained traction 20 years ago and indeed the phrase ‘Guilty Pleasures’ was leapt on by the media and the expression entered into the public domain. Sean started up a Guilty Pleasures club night with a monthly residency at KOKO in Camden Town, and he headlined stages at Glastonbury, Latitude, The Big Chill, Bestival and even the opening of the new Wembley Stadium as support to George Michael!

Now, with the involvement of Rowley, the original 22-track CD has been expanded to a deluxe 4CD set with 70 songs (with red cover) and the ‘franchise’ appears on vinyl for the very first time courtesy of a 2LP vinyl package (with blue cover) featuring 29 songs.

Each of the editions comes with extensive track-by-track sleeve notes from Sean and the compilation’s release will be celebrated with a one-off launch party on 24 February next year at an appropriate venue: KOKO in Camden

Both 4CD and 2LP variants of Guilty Pleasures are released on 2 February 2024 via Demon Music. Amazon exclusive signed editions are limited to 1000 units (4CD) and 500 units (2LP vinyl) imited numbers come with prints signed by Sean Rowley.
