Suzanne Vega / Flying With Angels

Suzanne Vega will release Flying With Angels, a new album, in May.

It’s Vega’s first studio album since 2016’s Lover, Beloved: Songs from an Evening with Carson McCullers, although since that record featured songs written half a decade earlier (for the play Carson McCullers Talks About Love) Flying With Angels is actually Suzanne’s first album of new songs in 11 years (2014’s Tales from the Realm of the Queen of Pentacles being the last).

“Each song on the album takes place in an atmosphere of struggle,” Vega notes, “struggle to survive, to speak, to dominate, to win, to escape, to help someone else, or just live”.

The album features ‘Rats’, which was issued as a standalone single last year along with nine other songs.

In terms of formats, there’s a smart 2CD casebound book edition which offers six demos and 36 pages of content, available signed from Suzanne Vega’s official shop. The same channel has an exclusive red smoke vinyl edition of the new album. A single CD edition is also available.
