An intimate 2002 theatre gig recorded in L.A. on the Licks Tour
Hot on the heels of last year’s studio album, Hackney Diamonds, comes another Rolling Stones release – a live album recorded in November 2002.
Live At The Wiltern captures the band in an intimate setting – the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles – playing a set of mostly rarely-aired songs, including ‘Stray Cat Blues,’ ‘No Expectations’, ‘Live With Me’, and a cover of the classic 1964 soul song ‘Everybody Needs Somebody To Love’, featuring a guest spot by Solomon Burke, who opened the show that night.
There’s also a smattering of hits, such as ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash,’ Honky Tonk Women,’ ‘Start Me Up,’ and ‘Brown Sugar.’ The gig was part of the worldwide 117-date Licks Tour to celebrate the band’s 40th anniversary.
This release is available as a 2CD, 2CD+Blu-ray and 2CD+DVD sets (the blu-ray and DVD have the same tracklisting as the 2CD and blu-ray). There’s a 3LP vinyl edition of Live At The Wiltern as well, including a bronze and black ‘swirl’ version available from independent retailers.
Live At The Wiltern is released on 8 March 2024 via Mercury Studios.
