Tori Amos / Strange Little Girls 25th anniversary reissue

Tori Amos’ covers album Strange Little Girls is being reissued early next year to mark the record’s 25th anniversary

The album was originally released in 2001 (between To Venus and Back and Scarlett’s Walk) and saw Tori tackle 12 tracks written and originally performed by men, reinterpreted from a female point of view. Tracks included Depeche Mode’s ‘Enjoy The Silence’, 10cc’s ‘I’m Not In Love’, Lloyd Cole and the Commotions’ ‘Rattlesnakes’, Neil Young’s ‘Heart of Gold’ and The Beatles‘ ‘Happiness Is A Warm Gun’.

Tori created a distinct female persona for each track and was photographed as such, giving the album a striking visual identity.

The 2026 reissue sees audio remastered and the track count upped to 16, since the album now features a couple of B-sides from back in the day (David Bowie’s ‘After All’ and Alice Cooper’s ‘Only Women Bleed’) and two previously unreleased tracks: covers of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Growin’ Up’ and Elvis Costello’s ‘Hoover Factory’.

The re-release has new cover art (the ‘Rattlesnakes’ version) and is available as a 2CD set (with poster) and is also released on vinyl for the first time (as a 2LP set).

Strange Little Girls will be issued by Rhino on 20 February 2026.
