Van Der Graaf Generator / World Record reissue
New 5.1 and stereo mixes
2CD+blu-ray set offers new 5.1 mix by Stephen W. Tayler
Esoteric are set to reissue Van Der Graaf Generator’s 1976 album World Record.
The band’s seventh album was their last to feature what is considered as the classic lineup of Peter Hammill, Hugh Banton, David Jackson and Guy Evans, before their 2005 reunion. Banton would depart the band in December of ’76, with Jackson following in January 1977.
The new reissue comes as a 2CD+blu-ray set (in clamshell box packaging, with a booklet) with new stereo and 5.1 Surround mixes by Stephen W. Tayler on the blu-ray, alongside the promotional film for the single ‘Wondering’. The original stereo mix of the album has been newly remastered
The new stereo mix is also on CD 2 in the box and the first disc contains one bonus track: ‘Part One (Approx 35% of) Meurglys III, The Songwriters’ Guild’ (an edit, which was the B-side to ‘Wondering’). The Peel Session bonus tracks from the 2005 CD reissue are absent.
A vinyl edition will also be available which features the remastered version of the album. World Record will be released on 28 March 2025 and can be pre-ordered from the SDE shop using this link or the button below.
