Want it – but way overpriced.
Quite interested, but for £45, no thanks.
Ordered! Been looking for the other volumes as well, extremely rare indeed…
Heard about them a few years ago on this entertaining blog: http://www.aordisco.com/
But of course didn’t bother to buy them at the time….
Not necessarily a lot on here I’m into, but what a beautiful artefact.
This set looks pretty cool and the track selection is a nice mix of the familiar, unexpected and highly obscure…it reminds me of this odd but beguiling 8CD box i found on the floor at a just-discovered store Record Stop in Patchogue, Long Island, NY called “AOR Heaven”, released on Sony Japan in 1995…this thing was junked and the booklet was missing, and the 8 discs just showed the song titles. not the artists, and had similar artwork…I even contacted Sony Japan about info on this box…and this thing was so obscure, even THEY had no record of it even being released…I gave em the catalogue number and everything!! So I used my Shazam app to identify the songs I didn’t know…and in the end, I struck out on 6 or 7 songs…but it’s a similar “Yacht Rock” style and theme, discs separated by label and licensing…if anyone wants to know the tracklisting, I will follow-up…
Nice review, agree that this is a most enjoyable set. It won’t be available forever – the previous three volumes are extremely tricky to track down (particularly 1 and 3)
Cheers for the demo, I’ve not heard most of these tracks and that mystery element appeals to me as much as the cool packaging. The design has a Duran Duran feel to it.
Paul, can you do one of these for the Beck – Colors” Japanese CD+DVD deluxe edition? I saw it on your instagram page and it got me intrigued…
Yes!
Nice to see Agnetha Fältskog on a compilation, Let it shine was from the 1987 Peter Cetera produced album ‘I stand alone’.
Thanks Paul for the detailed review. Looks like an interesting mix of tunes.
I’m on my yacht listening!!
