BMG will reissue two more Bryan Ferry albums in September. The long-players in question are Frantic from 2002 and Avonmore from 2014.
Frantic combines originals such as ‘A Fool for Love’ and ‘San Simeon’ alongside some covers of Bob Dylan and Lead Belly songs, with guest appearances from Brian Eno and Johnny Marr. Because it was issued in the early ‘noughties’, this album actually got a multi-channel release on DVD-Audio at the time (I have a copy). Frantic gets a slightly revised front cover for this campaign.
Although there’s 12 years between them, Ferry only issued three albums in between Frantic and Avonmore (two if you don’t count The Jazz Age, on which he doesn’t perform). Avonmore was well received with Bryan again working with his longtime producer Rhett Davies . Johnny Marr is back again and Nile Rodgers plays on many tracks. Songs include ‘Loop De Li’, ‘Driving Me Wild’ and the cover of Robert Palmer’s ‘Johnny and Mary’.
Frantic is reissued on blue vinyl while Avonmore is pressed on red vinyl for this reissue campaign. Both are released on CD in Japanese style vinyl replica presentations.
Frantic and Avonmore will be released on 19 September 2025, via BMG.
