NewsDisco Discharge presents ‘More Sin’ 1980-89
Full-length Gay Club Anthems
Following on from the pleasures of 2023’s Box of Sin, Disco Discharge offer a follow-up collection, appropriately titled More Sin 1980-1989, which will be available as either a 5CD deluxe edition or as a 4LP vinyl package.
More Sin is compiled from the UK gay/NRG charts of the time, spanning the years 1980-89. The compilation contains individually themed discs spanning house, pop, and alternative tracks: Where Is My Man celebrates the divas of dance, featuring tracks from the likes of Eartha Kitt, Donna Summer, and Gwen Mcrae. Searchin‘ compiles a number of NRG tracks from the era (these two sections are reduced and combined together on one disc on the vinyl edition). Sub-Culture does the same for alternative music, including the likes of Siouxsie and the Banshees, Pet Shop Boys, and Bronski Beat. Dolce Vita highlights the global pop, although particularly Europop, of the era, and Heat It Up shows the beginnings and development of house music.
The 5CD deluxe set contains 53 original extended versions, including hard-to-find remixes and tracks, such as the 12-inch version of The Village People’s ‘Can’t Stop The Music’. The 4LP set is not quite as extensive, with 29 tracks. Scroll down for full tracklistings. Both formats contain a booklet with notes on each track and a foreword from Ian Wade, occasional SDE contributor and author of the book ‘1984: The Year Pop Went Queer’.
