Genesis / The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway super deluxe edition

Genesis’ landmark sixth album, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, is set for reissue in March next year as a super deluxe edition, coming in 5LP+blu-ray audio and 4CD+blu-ray audio formats.

Released as a double album in November 1974, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, was the pinnacle of Genesis’s early success and was their last studio album to feature Peter Gabriel. Written over three months at Hampshire’s Headley Grange, and recorded in Wales, the double-LP tells the tale of Rael, a Puerto-Rican boy from New York City and his journey of self-discovery. Co-produced by John Burns, alongside the band, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway has since garned critical acclaim and is regarded as something of a progressive rock classic.

Both 5LP and 5CD super deluxe editions contains a brand-new remaster by Miles Showell at Abbey Road of the original album mix from the 1974 tapes. They also feature a blu-ray audio which includes Dolby Atmos Mix (and a 96/24 hi-res stereo mix) of the album by Bob Mackenzie, under the supervision of Peter Gabriel and Tony Banks.

This 50th anniversary editions also includes a remastered recording of the The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway live at the Shrine Auditorium, 1975. It is the first time the full live show, including encore tracks ‘Watcher of the Skies’ and ‘The Musical Box’, has been released. There are other unreleased tracks, with three never-before-issued demos from the Headley Grange sessions (unfortunately these are Flower in the Dirt style download only package, which includes all the audio on the set).

A deluxe book is also included, featuring interviews with all five members of the band by sometime SDE reviewer Alexis Petridis, along with replica 1975 tour programme, ticket and poster.

The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway will be released on 28 March 2025 via Rhino.
