Sting / Live at the Olympia Paris

Eagle Vision will release Sting: Live At The Olympia Paris next month, a concert film that captures on Sting on his current 57th & 9th tour.

This was filmed in April this year and includes tracks from the new album (including I Can’t Stop Thinking About You) and of course plenty of classic hits from The Police as well as Sting’s solo career.

Sting’s band for this tour includes his longtime guitarist, Dominic Miller, Josh Freese (drums), Rufus Miller (guitar) and Percy Cardona (accordion).

Eagle Vision have kept things simple for this release. No vinyl, no CDs, no deluxe editions just blu-ray and DVD options. There is some bonus content which is nine performances from Sting and special guests, Joe Sumner and The Last Bandoleros.

Sting: Live At The Olympia Paris is released on 10 November 2017.

Amazon UK are certainly not doing him any favours by advertising this Blu-Ray as being locked to Region A.

Neil

The price of that Blu-ray needs to come down in the UK considering it’s nearly £7 cheaper in the US.

I must confess to having an audio rip of the broadcast of this on my phone. Stunning show, Sting’s bass playing is superb on this… If you get a chance listen to his playing at the beginning of Roxanne.
His son Joe sings the main vocal on the Ashes to Ashes Bowie tribute and does a great job.

I’ll definitely be getting the Blu Ray.

Am I missing something or is there nothing akin music video compilation currently available from him on DVD? There are plenty of concert videos for him which, well, your actual mileage may vary.

Neil

You aren’t missing anything no video compilation of his has been released on DVD which is rather strange.

Charlie Waffles

Thanks for nothing, Gordon…

No cds
What a shame

Wasn’t there a special edition of the last CD that came with a live disc from Paris? Not sure.

Neil

There is a Russian bootleg with 17 tracks from the Bataclan concert on the second disc. I actually bought it and you would be very hard pushed to tell it was a bootleg.

maxx

actually the band includes:
Joe Sumner (sting’s son) on backing vocals & acoustic guitar
The Last Bandoleros on backing vocals

tom m hans

why is the Blu-ray cheaper than the DVD? Pushing a format?

bertielego

Most likely the Bluray comes in the usual cheap and nasty blue box, and the DVD in a nice cardboard box. That to me explains the price difference.

Although I do own a Bluray player, for some releases I prefer to buy the DVD version rather than the Bluray version, purely for packaging reasons.

Tom M Hans

Makes sense. Thank you.

Lee

I went to this gig (present to my girlfriend who is French, lives in Paris and has always wanted to see Sting live). It was a great concert with a excellent support slots from his son and the Last Bandeloros band. There was even a nice Bowie tribute at one point…
I’d be interested to know what night the footage was taken from (although it’s probably a comp of both nights).
