Sparks / The Island Years vinyl box set coming in late 2015

sparks

Universal Music will issue a The Island Years, a Sparks vinyl box set, later this year.

Details are sketchy at this stage, but since this is a five-LP set it will definitely contain the four studio albums – Kimono My House, Propaganda, Indiscreet, Big Beat – plus a further record. It’s possible that the bonus LP of demos included with the Kimono My House reissue will be repeated here, although that’s not confirmed.

Amazon UK are listing a release date of 6 November 2015. The current pre-order price of just over £60 seems decent and highly likely to increase in the next five months.

The ‘Relativity’ compilation was a hoax and does not exist. This so-called official compilation’s back sleeve even lists a song called ‘Cigarettes & Politics’ which not even by Sparks!
Still think the 5th disc is the ‘Kimono’ demos on the recent reissue, hope I’m wrong though.

Speaking about The Island Years, why not Relativity LP, the last Island compilation with rare and unreleased tracks will be re-issued ? Its more logical than to repeat Kimono again…

Amazon price seems to have gone up.

Already bought the Kimono vinyl reissue so mainly interested in Indiscreet (the other early album that I favour although they all have their merits).

I would be interested to see a complete track listing…

Love it !

It could also be a live album – as at least the Fairfield Hall show was recorded by the Island Mobile…

I guess it’s very likely that the b-sides from that era will appear on the fifth disc: Profile, Barbecutie, Alabamy Right, The Wedding Of Jacqueline Kennedy & Russell Mael etc.
