Queen’s recently announced A Night at the Odeon live set comes in more ‘editions’ than you can shake a microphone stand at, but a decent option for the cost-conscious fan who doesn’t get too excited about the froth in the super deluxe box (balloons, badges etc.) is the CD+Blu-ray combo.

Roger Waters builds The Wall higher with inflated super deluxe

Fans won’t miss the irony. Pink Floyd‘s The Wall  is an album that deals with isolation and alienation and was famously performed live in 1980 with a physical division (a literal wall) being built between audience and band.

The Wall, as performed live by Roger Waters between 2010 and 2013 is being released on audio and video formats, but yesterday a super deluxe edition was announced that is so expensive that it really does divide the Us and Them. The barriers have come up again and while Waters isn’t literally spitting at his audience anymore, perhaps in this inflated, grotesque and overblown package fans might find a kernel of the same disdain.

Bruce Springsteen / The Promise 3LP vinyl reissue on the way

When Sony put out Bruce Springsteen‘s Darkness On The Edge of Town deluxe edition back in 2010, so numerous were the outtakes that they had their own standalone release as The Promise. This was issued as a two-CD set and across three vinyl records. The 3LP set commands very high prices on the used market these days, so fans may be pleased to discover that it will be repressed and reissued in early December.
