There has been a fair bit of Van Morrison activity in the past week, with the news that Sony’s Legacy Recordings has acquired the rights to much of the man’s back catalogue and also that 1968’s Astral Weeks and 1970’s His Band and the Street Choir (both still owned by Warners and not part of the Sony deal) will be reissued and expanded by Rhino in October.

A bona fide Britpop classic, I Should Coco was the amazing 1995 debut that Supergrass never really bettered. The new 3CD deluxe is packed with great content and the vinyl reissue comes with a bonus seven-inch. 
a-ha‘s surprise 10th studio album, Cast In Steel, is available as a limited ‘fanbox’ as well as deluxe 2CD and vinyl. Just don’t say they’re getting back together.

It’s that time of the month! SDE has been shopping for used records, largely in charity or thrift stores. Here’s what we’ve found…
This was a timely find, given the recent reissue of Tina Turner‘s Private Dancer. This was one of a series of EMI ‘Sound&Vision’ double-packs which gave you the concert on VHS and the ‘soundtrack’ to the concert on CD. The CD was exclusive, that was the real draw. Kate Bush’s Live at Hammersmith Odeon got a similar release. Anyway, the VHS for this had gone AWOL (not exactly a disaster) and as can be seen from the photos the CD itself has seen better days. Nevertheless this plays fine and most of the content isn’t on the new reissue!
The Velvet Underground‘s fourth album Loaded will be reissued by Rhino as a six disc 45th anniversary edition in October.

The initial idea for Tomb of Memories: The CBS Years 1982-1994 came in 2013. I had compiled a two-CD set called Remixes and Rarities for the Cherry Pop label and in June of that year Paul Young was dropping in to BBC Broadcasting house in London to do some pre-release promotion.
