Belinda Carlisle / The CD Singles 1986-2014 / 28CD box set
Following last month’s announcement of a 33CD Bananarama singles box, Demon Music have applied a similar template to the work of Belinda Carlisle and are set to issue The CD Singles 1986-2014, a 28CD collection that gathers up the various B-sides and additional mixes that were issued across the different formats of each single released in the US and UK.

Review / The Rolling Stones: From The Vault Marquee Club 1971
We have ‘American TV’ to thank for the fact that the unofficial last date of The Rolling Stones‘ 1971 UK tour was filmed (on Friday 26 March), with this set at The Marquee Club performed in front of an ‘elite’ audience of just 150 people, said to include Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page.

Paul Young / Tomb of Memories: The CBS Years 1982-1994 / 4CD set
Sony Music has collaborated with SuperDeluxeEdition on Tomb of Memories: The CBS Years 1982-1994, a new Paul Young four-CD collection set for release in August.
Compiled by SDE Editor Paul Sinclair (with input from Young), this new collection spans Paul’s entire tenure with CBS/Sony and is awash with rarities, taking in many new-to-CD cuts, demos, previously unreleased alternate mixes of album tracks (and hit singles) along with unheard songs recorded during the sessions for The Secret of Association, Other Voices and The Crossing.

The Bowie Box Debate
The headline news this week was the announcement of Five Years 1969-1973 the first in a series of David Bowie box sets from Parlophone. In general, it’s always quite exciting when a major release of one of your favourite artists is announced, but once the dust had settled opinion was rather divided on the merits of the new set which contains Bowie’s first six RCA studio long-players, two live albums and a new two-disc compilation.

Lloyd Cole on new Commotions box
In the next seven days Lloyd Cole and the Commotions’ new six-disc box set – Collected Recordings 1983-1989 – will be released. The set collects the three studio albums (Rattlesnakes, Easy Pieces and Mainstream) and provides two bonus audio discs of B-sides and unreleased demos and outtakes. A DVD with TV appearances and videos completes the box set.
