Black Box Recorder / England Made Me (2026 reissue)
Black Box Recorder’s 1998 debut stands alongside The Auteurs‘ New Wave and the Baader Meinhof album, as one of the best records Luke Haines has been involved in. Sarah Nixey sings (read the SDE interview with her) and Haines co-wrote the songs with John Moore. Once a semi-lost classic, this record has actually been reissued a few times now. This latest iteration for 2026 (on CD with 6 bonus tracks and album-only on clear vinyl) coincides with the London Palladium concert on Friday (and Leeds warm-up show tomorrow). Highly recommended.
Ed O’Brien, Radiohead’s guitarist releases Blue Morpho, his second solo album, under his own name. Written during lockdown and recorded in London and Wales the album blends “a collage of hypnotic psych-folk, jazz, trip-hop, radiant guitars and rhythm sections”.
