Elvis Presley’s incredible 12 months of 1956 are celebrated in this new 5-disc set from Sony.

Young Man With The Big Beat comprises two discs of original tracks from the official releases of that year, a CD of previously unreleased live performances which span that 12 month period, a fourth CD of outtakes and finally a fifth CD that contains interviews with both the man himself and manager Colonel Tom Parker.

The Kinks in Mono brings together The Kinks’ first seven LPs from Kinks through to Arthur, as well as 4 extra EPs and 2 volumes of further collectables – all in mono. The set also includes a 32 page, pop annual style book complete with new liner notes, memorabilia (including rare photos), discography information and more.

It was quite hard to avoid Madness in the 1980s. 14 of their first 16 singles hit the UK top ten. That meant constant appearances on Top of the Pops and regular airplay on BBC Radio One. In fact when they decided to call it a day in 1986 (before reforming in later years) with (Waiting For) The Ghost Train only one of their singles (Sweetest Girl) had failed to breach the UK’s top thirty.

Sting: 25 Years / 3CD+DVD Box Set

Sting has recently released a box set celebrating his entire career as a solo artist.

Sting: 25 Years, contains three CDs, totalling 45 tracks, from his 1985 debut album, The Dream Of The Blue Turtles, to his latest release, Live in Berlin. A fourth disc is a previously unreleased live concert DVD and the whole thing is packaged in a well designed hardcover book.

The Pointer Sisters had solid success in the 1970s with a soft rock audience. This reached its culmination in 1978, with their album Energy, which included a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s Fire that reached no. 2 on the US singles chart. Although they continued to have hit singles for the next few years, they yearned for the really BIG hit album which had eluded them.

The Rolling Stones are to release on November 21, 2011 a re-mastered, expanded, Super Deluxe, Deluxe and Digital editions of Some Girls, the chart-topping album from 1978.

This reissue follows in the footsteps of the Exile on Main Street reissue from 2010 and will include some undiscovered gems that have recently been unearthed from the Rolling Stones vaults by producer Don Was. There are rumoured to be around 10 bonus tracks.

The distinction is subtle, but important. Issues such as these have kept me awake at night over the years. A similar preoccupation is “what happened to CTIS104?”, the ‘missing’ cassette single (“cassingle”) in a run which started with Into Battle with Art of Noise (CTIS100), took in Frankie singles such as Two Tribes (“Keep the Peace – a cassette celebration” CTIS103) and ended with Act’s Snobbery & Decay (Cabaret-Cassette CTIS25).

Kate Bush / Brand new studio album / 50 Words For Snow

Kate Bush will release a brand new studio album, 50 Words For Snow, on 21 November 2011.

The album comprises all new material and was recorded during the same period that Kate worked on her album Director’s Cut, which was released in May.

50 Words For Snow features seven brand new tracks, which according to the press release are “set against a background of falling snow”. Although there are only seven tracks it’s by no means a short album with a total running time is 65 minutes.

Queen / Live at Wembley 25th Anniversary / Super Deluxe Edition

It was 25 years ago that Queen, commercially revived from their triumphant performance at Live Aid, performed two sell out shows at Wembley Stadium on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th July 1986.

A 2-DVD 25th anniversary set has been released which features performances from both nights in their entirety. The DVDs also come with previously unreleased footage and brand new bonus features.

The Wall Demos

EMI have released details of the demo tracks which will be included on Pink Floyd’s The Wall Immersion Edition.

The seven-disc box set includes the original remastered album as discs one & two, with a remastered version of live concert Is There Anybody Out There? taking up discs three and four. Disc seven is a DVD, but we can now reveal that discs five and six will include an astonishing 64 demo tracks.
