New Visage remix compilation and seven-CD limited edition set

Earlier this month SDE posted about the new Visage compilation Wild Life: The Best of 1978 to 2015 (out soon). It’s fair to say that this was met with a decidedly lukewarm reception by fans who were looking for something a bit more nuanced and well, interesting.

Their hopes now rest in a ‘sister companion’ subtitled The Best Of Extended Versions and Remixes – 1978 to 2015 (presumably the expected ‘CDX’ version) which will be issued in January, along with a seven-CD package which includes both versions of this compilation and a plethora of instrumental versions of later material.

Yes, it’s that time of year again! With December only days away, SDE makes no excuses for presenting you with some gift ideas for that special person in your life…YOU! Sting / 57th & 9th: Track-by-track

Sting phones in a competent effort. The choruses, breaks and middle eights are all in the right places, but 57th & 9th fails to thrill.

Sting‘s PR machine is at pains to make sure we understand that this is his first ROCK album in “over a decade” but what does that really mean? Listening to 57th & 9th I’m reminded that Sting’s best albums don’t operate in a single dimension and can’t be pigeonholed quite so easily. The best Sting long-players have effortlessly woven jazz, folk, world music and even classical influences into the ‘rock’ template.

In late October 2014, SDE Editor Paul Sinclair interviewed legendary guitarist David Rhodes about playing with Kate Bush on her Before The Dawn shows.

Rhodes was fresh from the experience which had at that time only ended a few weeks earlier and he talked to SDE about the all aspects of the the shows, from first contact with Kate to opening night and beyond.
