Various voice artists / Hornets' Nest Vinyl

In 2009, actor Tom Baker reprised the role of the Doctor in Doctor Who for a BBC radio drama called Hornets’ Nest. It was the first time Baker had returned (properly) to the role since the end of his original TV series, in the early 1980s. This delayed coloured vinyl box set is finally issued this week and you can still get the limited edition with a print signed by Tom Baker himself!

Only Soft Cell’s sixth studio album, the CD of *Happiness Not Included features the Pet Shop Boys-produced version of ‘The Purple Zone’, while the vinyl doesn’t (because they were already in production). The band have promised future vinyl pressings will be amended.

XTC / Mummer (vinyl reissue)

XTC’s 1983 album Mummer was their first having retired from touring. This features ‘Love on a Farmboy’s Wages’ and has been remastered and pressed on 200g. black vinyl. If you’re wondering about the album artwork, it has been “restored to Andy Partridge’s originally intended cover”.

Def Leppard / Pyromania (vinyl reissue)

Before Hysteria there was Pyromania, Def Leppard’s third studio album, issued in 1983. Produced by Robert John “Mutt” Lange the album delivered massive mainstream success in America, selling over 10m copies. Remarkably Leppard hadn’t quite reached the summit and they’d surpass this with their next album!
