Bryan Ferry’s 1987 album Bête Noire and 1993’s Taxi are reissued in Dolby Atmos via two exclusive SDE blu-rays. Both feature Atmos and 5.1 mixes, stereo versions and bonus remixes.
Kim Wilde’s 1984 album – her first for MCA – features the UK hits ‘The Second Time’ and ‘Rage For Love’. The expanded 2CD+DVD package features loads of remixes, promo videos and BBC TV appearances.

The pre-order window for Simple Minds’ 1985 album Once Upon A Time, on SDE exclusive blu-ray, closes today.
The blu-ray features an immersive Dolby Atmos Mix by original co-producer Bob Clearmountain, alongside a wealth of other content.
On release, the band’s most successful album to date sold two million copies in two months and reached No 1 in the UK and the top 10 in America. It contains the classic hit singles ‘Alive and Kicking,’ ‘All the Things She Said,’ ‘Sanctify Yourself,’ and ‘Ghost Dancing’.

The companion ‘Extra’ edition of NOWYearbook ’99 will be released in August, as a 3CD set.
The ‘main’ Yearbook 1999 was challenging, simply due to the chart fare of this era, but this ‘Extra’ version looks surprisingly strong, particularly CDs 1 and 2 which offer tracks from Duran Duran, Pet Shop Boys, Blondie, Eurythmics, Sheryl Crow, Culture Club, the Manics, Supergrass, The Cardigans, Suede, Electronic, Moby and more.
CD 3 reverts to type, but overall, this is worth picking up, I’d say and it’s good to see Duran’s semi-forgotten single ‘Electric Barbarella’ included. It was released in America in 1997 as the lead single from Medazzaland, but not issued in the UK until 1999 to promote the hits collection Greatest.

Bonnie Tyler died in Portugal last night, two months after being admitted to hospital for emergency intestinal surgery.
The Welsh singer was best known for her global smash ‘Total Eclipse Of The Heart’, a transatlantic number one in 1983, written and produced by Jim Steinman. There’s some dispute over whether the song was originally earmarked for Meat Loaf; Tyler always insisted it was completed for her alone.
Faster Than The Speed of Night, home to ‘Total Eclipse Of The Heart’, was Bonnie’s fifth studio album. By this time she’d already enjoyed sizeable hits in the UK from both her 1977 debut The World Starts Tonight (‘Lost in France’) and 1978’s Natural Force (‘It’s A Heartache’ which was a top 10 single in the UK and reached No 3 in the US).
1985’s ‘Holding Out For A Hero’ (initially included on the Footloose sountrack) almost repeated the success of ‘Total Eclipse Of The Heart’ in the UK, but spent three weeks at No 2, thwarted by David Bowie and Mick Jagger’s ‘Dancing In The Street’ for all three of those weeks).
Tyler continued to release albums and toured extensively in later life. Her final studio album was The Best Is Yet To Come, issued via EarMusic in early 2021.

The Sundays‘ three studio albums, released between 1990 and 1997 are being reissued on vinyl and CD next month.
Formed in 1988 and signed, initially, to Rough Trade, the British indie-rock band issued Reading Writing and Arithmetic in 1990, which features ‘Here’s Where The Story Ends’ and ‘You’re The Only One I Know’; Blindin 1992; and in 1997, Static & Silence, which featured the UK top 20 hit ‘Summertime’.
The band have released nothing since 1997, although apparently lead vocalist Harriet Wheeler and guitarist David Gavurin (who are a couple) have never stopped making music. We won’t hold our breath.
There is no word on whether these three albums have been remastered, but they will be available on black vinyl (140g pressings in single sleeves) and CD (digisleeve), without any bonus tracks.
Reading, Writing and Arithmetic, Blind and Static & Silence will be released on 14 August 2026, via Parlophone.

Bananarama’s third album, True Confessions, will be reissued in August for its 40th anniversary.
The 1986 long-player features the US No 1 ‘Venus’, as well as UK top 40 singles ‘Do Not Disturb’ and ‘A Trick Of The Night’.
Individual ‘band member’ CDs have unique interview and bonus tracks
The annivesary reissue is available as a 3CD set (featuring a plethora of remixes and rarities), a 2LP vinyl version (mostly new remixes on LP 2), a vinyl picture disc, three individual CD ‘band member’ editions (Sara, Siobhan and Keren) which have appropriate artwork and unique audio at the end, in the form of ‘True Confessions’ from the band member in question. These are 2026 interviews based on their memories of recording the album, etc. Each ‘band member’ edition CD also has a hidden bonus track (they’re all different).
The official shop is offering signed bundles and a free ‘Venus’/’More Than Physical’ CD single with the first 1000 orders.
True Confessions will be released on 28 August 2026 via London Records.
Paul Simon will release The Quiet Celebration Concert on vinyl and CD in October.
A Quiet Celebration toured the US in small venues, and this particular concert was recorded live at McCaw Hall in Seattle. The show featured a first-ever live performance of his 2023 album Seven Psalms, in its entirety (CD 1 of the 2CD set) and then a selection of hits and ‘deep cuts’ (CD 2).
This tour has enabled me to play with musicians again. I really missed it.

The Quiet Celebration Concert will be released on 9 October 2026 via Sony.
This 5CD collection of Status Quo’s early recordings captures an era when they found their signature sound. Includes rare mono version of third album, ‘Ma Kelly’s Greasy Spoon’, various singles and B-sides, outtakes and alternative versions, plus a version of The Doors’ `Roadhouse Blues’.
Primal Scream are to reissue expanded editions of their so called ‘Bunker Trilogy’: Vanishing Point (1997), XTRMNTR (2000) and Evil Heat (2002), on vinyl and CD.
Bobby Gillespie: “The albums constituting The Bunker Trilogy were the complete antithesis of everything that was going on in UK music in the 1990s. We were making uncompromising aggressive experimental pop and rock music with lyrics about psychic dislocation, addiction, alienation, depression, questioning our very existence and documenting the dark sleazy underbelly of UK youth culture… Whilst the rest of the UK music and cultural scene fell in love with itself, convinced by their own genius, drowning in an orgy of narcissism and cocaine in a permanent self-aggrandizing state, we had had our times of utopian thinking at the beginning of the decade but were now full of disgust for ourselves and the world. Out of that self-reflecting mood came the albums Vanishing Point, XTMTR and Evil Heat. All recorded at our north London studio, The Bunker.”
All three albums have been newly mastered by Matt Colon at Metropolis Studios (under the supervision of Bobby Gillespie and Andrew Innes) and are available on limited edition coloured 2LP vinyl and on CD.
All three titles offer a selection of rarities as bonus tracks with XTRMNTR going one further and delivering two previously unreleased tracks. Vinyl and CD have the same tracklistings.
These are being released in stages, with Vanishing Point out on 7 August, XTRMNTR on 4 September and Evil Heat on 30 October 2024, all via Sony. The coloured vinyl is reportedly fairly limited and will be replaced with black vinyl when sold out.
A new Joy Division box set, Eternal (Live), brings together 16 live performances across 14 CDs.
“Years in the making”, the audio in this set is sourced from audience recorded cassettes, soundboard tapes and broadcast recordings, all mastered at Abbey Road Studios.
The content includes two previously unreleased shows Hope & Anchor and Acklam Hall and three previously unheard recordings, The Factory, Lyceum, Moonlight Club (2 April). It also features the band’s final live performance, at High Hall Birmingham in 1980, where they played Ceremony for the first and last time on stage. This was two weeks before Ian Curtis died.
The box also includes two DVDs giving fans 16 discs. They feature two hours and 30 mins of live shows including the previously unseen Plan K, Brussels concert and two concerts and soundcheck from the Apollo Theatre, Manchester that have only been partially released on VHS (in 1982) and a brand new edit of Joy Division – A Malcolm Whitehead Film.
Eternal (Live) comes as a 12-inch large format lift-off lid box set. There’s no luxury book mind you, just a “16-page booklet” with notes by Simon Armitage and photos by Anton Corbijn, Kevin Cummins and others.
It’s probably a case of buyer beware with this box set, since according to the label “audio quality across these sources varies widely. Most of the audience recordings sound exactly like what they are – recorded by a fan in the crowd – and multiple concerts have been widely bootlegged”. But they go on to say that they “have every confidence that Joy Division fans will revel in these official bootlegs, and be overjoyed by the higher quality recordings, especially with those that are previously unheard”.
Eternal (Live) will be released on 25 September 2026, via Warner Records.

Ten Years After’s fourth studio album, Cricklewood Green, will be reissued in August.
The 1970 album followed on the back of the blues-rock group’s performance at Woodstock and features their only UK hit single, ‘Love Like a Man’ (bizarrely the A-side played an edited version of the album cut at 45RPM and the B-side was a near eight minute live version which played at 33RPM).
The album has been newly mastered for the reissue and the 2CD edition includes a selection of rarities appended to CD 1 including a newly discovered ‘Cricklewood Jam’ instrumental demo. CD 2 includes a newly mixed version of the band’s second set at the Fillmore East on 27 February 1970, which includes an 11-minute version of ‘Going Home’.
The 2LP vinyl version doesn’t include the bonus tracks on the first disc of the 2CD set and omits Sweet Little Sixteen from the live set.
The reissue features newly written sleeve notes, band interviews and unseen photos. Cricklewood Green will be reissued on 28 August 2026, via Chrysalis.
Fans may have noticed that Duran Duran are putting a lot of energy into promoting their latest single, the non-album collaboration with Nile Rodgers, called ‘Free to Love’.
We’ve had the Top of the Pops pastiche promo video, appearances on UK TV’s The One Show and, in the USA, Jimmy Kimmel Live. Despite a mixed reaction from their fanbase (“dreadful”, “instantly forgettable” and “dull” were some of the less enthusiastic notices from SDE readers, although others called it “fun and frothy” and “highly enjoyable”) the band will be doing something they haven’t done in the UK since 2007 and that is releasing a single on CD.
Free To Love: Hot Star Remixes is a collection of eight remixes of this one song showcasing “an eclectic lineup of artists and producers from across the worlds of disco, house, club culture and electronic music”. It’s released digitally this Friday and will be issued on what we used to call a ‘maxi’ CD, vinyl and cassette “later this summer”. In fact, these three formats will offer two bonus remixes (in case eight isn’t enough) and there will also be a standalone seven-inch with an instrumental version on side B.
Nick Rhodes said: “Sometimes a song simply demands remixes and you have no choice but to obey – this was certainly the case with ‘Free To Love’. We wanted to collaborate with the best possible contemporary remixers, which is something we have not done for a very long time. It was a leap of faith, and we had absolutely no idea how the interpretations of our song might turn out, but we could not be more thrilled with the results“.
There is no new B-side to this single and some may be disappointed at the band not taking up the opportunity to include some songs on this remix single/album which aren’t ‘Free To Love’. The many remixes of ‘Evil Woman’ remain digital exclusives, the Erol Alkan reworkings of ‘Give It All Up’ and ‘All Of You’ were only issued on vinyl and last year’s ‘Shadows On Your Side’ re-recording hasn’t been issued on any physical product.

Rare vinyl test pressings will go under the hammer TOMORROW at The White Label Auction in aid of The BRIT Trust.
Last year’s event achieved a total hammer price of £44,200, including £8,800 for an original 1975 seven-inch test pressing of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.
This year’s signed highlights include items from The Cure’s Robert Smith, Roxy Music, Erasure, Starsailor, and more. The Roxy Music item is a double-sided acetate of 1973 single ‘Do the Strand’ cut at IBC Studios in London’s Portland Place, donated by Phil Manzanera and signed by Phil, Bryan Ferry, and Andy Mackay.

The reissue of Tina Turner’s 1996 album, Wildest Dreams, is out this week, after a well-timed broadcast of the concert from 4CD+blu-ray super deluxe edition was broadcast on BBC TV this past weekend.
A surprisingly good concert, The Night WatchLive at the Rijksmuseum captures Sting in ‘intimate’ mode with guitarist Dominic Miller. You don’t need to know that he’s playing “a 17th-century guitar crafted for Louis XIV” to enjoy it (it’s probably better, that you don’t – apologies!).
Limited edition vinyl picture disc of The Belle Stars‘ 1983 album. This features the hits ‘Sign Of The Times’, ‘Iko Iko’, and ‘The Clapping Song’. This release includes two extra singles not featured on the original release. There’s also a 3CD box set available.
Keane’s second album, Under The Iron Sea, is being reissued for its 20th anniversary.
The 2006 record reached No 1 on the UK charts and features the singles ‘Is It Any Wonder?’, ‘Crystal Ball’, ‘Nothing In My Way’ and ‘A Bad Dream’.

The album has been newly remastered and the reissue is available as a 3CD deluxe set with two discs of rarities, including B-sides, demos and a generous selection of live performances.
Curiously, there appears to be no standard vinyl version (there was a reissue in 2018), but a zoetrope picture disc version is being made available. Despite being a picture disc this is pressed at half-speed and uses the new remaster.
Under The Iron Sea will be released on 24 July 2026 via UMR.
Warner’s 1988 Fleetwood MacGreatest Hits compilation, which was released at the time to capitalise on the success of Tango in the Night, is being reissued as a deluxe edition, on CD and vinyl, next month.
Originally, this was a 13-track compilation on vinyl, but the CD format delivered 17 tracks in a slightly re-jigged running order.
This new ‘deluxe’ edition offers 23 tracks in total, although spreads these out across two discs. So CD 1 offers the original 13-track vinyl running order from 1988 and moves four tracks to CD 2 with six further bonus tracks. £21.99 seems optimistic for a 38-year-old compilation that offers only a handful of bonus tracks, especially when you can buy the 50-track Don’t Stop collection for significantly less.
Greatest Hits deluxe makes a bit more sense on vinyl, with the second LP offering 10 tracks not on the original vinyl edition. Yes, that means ‘Big Love’ wasn’t on the original vinyl version, which is remarkable.
Greatest Hits deluxe is released on 31 July 2026 via Rhino for US and Canada only. Rest of the World gets it on 28 August.
