New label Run Out Groove issues Echo and the Bunnymen archival live set

Warner Music Group have launched Run Out Groove, a new ‘fan-driven’ vinyl-only imprint that will deliver limited-run vinyl pressings featuring unreleased or out-of-print material. One of their early titles will be It’s All Live Now, an album featuring select live performances by Echo and the Bunnymen.

Watch the Pet Shop Boys perform ‘It’s A Sin’ live at the Royal Albert Hall

The Pet Shop Boys wowed the audience at last night’s Royal Albert Hall Teenage Cancer Trust concert, when the performed a gem-filled set with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and Johnny Marr. SDE was there and managed to capture the show-closer, It’s A Sin. Watch it below.

A beautiful but flawed package that puts Paul McCartney before his fans

Paul McCartney’s new deluxe edition of his 1989 album Flowers in the Dirt is a set full of contradictions…

While the four-disc deluxe set purports to celebrate the 1989 album, in reality its focus is much narrower than that, with a gaze firmly set on McCartney’s songwriting partnership with Elvis Costello. That pairing came to light when Back On My Feet, the first McCartney / McManus composition, graced the B-side of the 1987 non-album single Once Upon A Long Ago (Paul’s last top ten hit in the UK, fact fans).

Elton John announced a partnership with Burberry last October and an expensive vinyl box was duly issued, sold exclusively in-store and online by the luxury brand.

The one real ‘carrot’ for fans – who otherwise rolled their eyes at the £225 box set, which was “flecked with gold glitter” – was the inclusion of a two-LP vinyl edition of John’s 2001 album Songs From The West Coast. The reason was simple, it was the only place to find this album on vinyl, until now…
