ABBA‘s deluxe edition reissue series continues with a CD+DVD 40th Anniversary Edition of 1974’s Waterloo.
The format will be very familiar to fans who have bought previous deluxe editions. The eight bonus tracks on the CD include the usual foreign language versions of singles and this Waterloo deluxe adds a few single remixes.

The new Bruce Springsteen album doesn’t come as any kind of limited edition box set, but the two-disc deluxe edition looks a cut above the average with a bonus live DVD of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performing the entire Born in the USA album at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London on June 30, 2013 during the historic Wrecking Ball tour. The vinyl version also comes with the CD (but no DVD) which is another option for fans. 
US label Light In The Attic issue highlights from two decades of Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees, Queens of the Stone Age) solo material on a triple LP box set and a two-CD collection.

With just over a week to go until the release date, Amazon UK have reduced The Beatles US Albums box set from £149.99 to £106 (correct at the time of writing).
If you were wavering over placing an order, will this near £50 reduction tempt you to pull the trigger, and place and order? If you do consider doing this, we’d recommend not hesitating for too long, because we can’t see it staying at this price for too long.
Universal Music are putting out two T Rex deluxe editions in March as companion releases to Demon Music’s Tanx and Zinc Alloy deluxe set.
A Beard Of Stars (1970) is the last album issued under the Tyrannosaurus Rex moniker and the new two-CD reissue features an enormous amount of additional material, including 16 previously unreleased demos and alternates on disc two. In total the original 14-track album is transformed into a mammoth 47 track exploration of the original material with John Peel sessions appended to the first disc.

If the forthcoming CD+DVD Belinda Carlisle Collection isn’t enough for you, Demon Music have today announced a limited edition five disc release titled The Anthology.
This 3CD+2DVD set will be altogether a more comprehensive affair, with a greatest hits selection spanning the first two CDs and the third containing rarities (we are assured these selections won’t repeat what was on the Edsel reissues) and a brand new Live in Tokyo 2013 performance. The two DVDs will cover all the promo videos and many BBC TV performances.

Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart will perform together later this month to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles landing in America.
This unexpected Eurythmics reunion forms part of a US TV special called The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to the Beatles, which will be broadcast on 9 February, 50 years to the day that the Fab Four performed on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Sony’s RCA/Legacy Recordings will reissue Elvis Presley‘s 1974 ‘homecoming’ live album Elvis Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis as an expanded two-CD Legacy Edition on 17 March 2014.
This 40th Anniversary release will feature tracks left off the original vinyl record, as well as a significant amount of previously unreleased material. The unissued work is largely made up of a complete “test run” of the live performance held two days before the actual concert. According to Sony this was recorded in mono and “drenched in the reverb Elvis preferred”!

The original Frankie Said made a lot of sense. It was a Frankie Goes To Hollywood ‘budget’ compilation released by Salvo in November 2012 that managed to please die-hard fans via the inclusion of rare mixes and edits, while not alienating the broader musical audience who accepted it at face value as a ‘greatest hits’.
Considering the group only released seven singles and the last two (Warriors of the Wasteland and Watching The Wildlife) didn’t even make the UK top ten, the 16-track collection does a good job of ‘making sense’ of Frankie without containing too much filler. The inclusion of two twelve-inch versions of Relax and Two Tribes at the end is appropriate, given how popular these were at the time.

No Depression, the debut album from critically acclaimed ‘alt country’ band Uncle Tupelo, will be reissued as a two-CD Legacy edition by Sony later this month.
The 1990 album was originally 13 tracks (on CD) but this new collection adds 22 bonus cuts to that, including the CD debut of the Not Forever, Just For Now demo tape.

The Complete Motown Singles series comes to an end with this five CD collection which also includes the usual seven-inch vinyl within the front cover. This was our Deal of the Day back in December; check that post for full track listings.
Demon Music will issue a special limited edition five-disc T Rex deluxe package in March 2014. This new collection features the albums Tanx (1973) and Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow (1974), both newly remastered by original producer Tony Visconti.

Harmless Records will issue Holland Dozier Holland – The Complete 45s Collection on 23 March 2014.
The famous songwriting and production team of Lamont Dozier and brothers Brian and Eddie Holland were well established at Motown by the late sixties, but left to launch their own labels Hot Wax Records and Invictus Records in 1968.

The one and only album by short-lived Steve Strange outfit Strange Cruise is reissued by Cherry Red Records on 27 January 2014.
The eponymous album was produced by Mike Hedges and released by EMI in 1986. It featured two singles (Rebel Blue Rocker, The Beat Goes On), neither of which enjoyed much commercial success. The group disbanded shortly afterwards.

Following on from our exclusive photos of The Beatles US Albums box set yesterday, here are some further pictures of the first Capitol album, Meet The Beatles!
The 1964 long player contains nine tracks from the UK’s With The Beatles (omitting five) and adds I Wanna Hold Your Hand, its US B-side This Boy, and I Saw Her Standing There (from Please Please Me). This new reissue has the full album in mono, followed straight after by the album in stereo.

We thought we’d start the new year with something very special. Just before Christmas, Apple Corps/Universal Music invited SuperDeluxeEdition in to take an exclusive look at the forthcoming Beatles box set, The U.S. Albums.
As previously announced on this blog, this special collection is released on 20 January 2014 and contains 13 CDs; titles released by Capitol Records in the 1960s that, for the most part, were quite different from their UK counterparts (new titles, alternate track listing, occasional mix differences).
