Depeche Mode / Personal Jesus Live
Depeche Mode‘s Violator album was released on this day in the US back in 1990.
Long considered a classic, the release was preceded by single Personal Jesus which had a cool video, cool cover art and lots of great mixes on the maxi-CD including an acoustic version.
So let’s her it for the most rock ‘n’ roll synth-pop band ever to emerge from Basildon, Essex.
If you were lucky enough to pick up the UK SACD/DVD Violator release back in 2006 then you probably have the ultimate version of the album. Here’s Personal Jesus live to celebrate the anniversary!

Top 10 Songs for: Mother’s Day
Mother / John Lennon
John Lennon’s brutally honest account of his largely motherless childhood opens 1970’s Plastic Ono Band album. In fact the album is bookended by songs about mothers, ending as it does with My Mummy’s Dead. This version is from Live In New York City with a nervous looking John Lennon concentrating on his piano chords.

Happy Birthday to us
SuperDeluxeEdition is one today!
Nothing like a bit of Nilsson to celebrate with.
Yes, 12 months ago to the day we kicked things off modestly, with a small news story about a new Kate Bush album (Director’s Cut), and 180 posts, one redesign and three Pink Floyd Immersion boxes later, we are, as Elton would say, “still standing”.
We LOVE music and our goal remains the same – to bring you all the latest news and reviews on music reissues, whether they be simple 2CD ‘deluxe editions’ or big box Super Deluxe Editions.
Thank you to everybody who has visited, left a comment or joined in the fun on Facebook or Twitter.
To celebrate our first birthday, we will have a few competitions next week with some great prizes, including a few signed CDs. Stay tuned for some great articles and features over the next few weeks, including an interview with Stephen Street about his work on Morrissey’s Viva Hate and what he thinks of the forthcoming reissue.
Until then, Happy Birthday to us!
