The Beatles: Get Back to be issued on blu-ray & DVD

Three-disc sets coming next month

Peter Jackson’s acclaimed Fab Four documentary, The Beatles: Get Back, will be released on blu-ray and DVD in February.

A 3-disc blu-ray collector’s set is now available to pre-order on Amazon in the UK and this mirrors the three episodes that premiered on Disney+ last November and includes Dolby Atmos sound. A ‘not final’ pack-shot of the product is below.

The ‘not final’ mock-up supplied to retailers shows off what the packaging might look like (click image to enlarge)

The blu-ray set is region-free and comes with four collector’s cards. But there’s no bonus features, no original-cut of Let It Be (which was promised when Get Back was announced) and there appears to be no UHD 4K edition.

The home video release news was almost a footnote yesterday, alongside the announcement that a 60-minute special: Get Back: The Rooftop Concert has been created for theatrical presentation in IMAX theatres in North American on 30 January. This will roll out globally on 11-13 February. If you are in America the link for tickets is here.

The Beatles: Get Back is issued on blu-ray and DVD on 28 February 2022.

  1. I’ve heard (as of 21st April 2022) that this issue (with December 2022 release date) has now been cancelled and that retailers (specifically Australia) have been told to stop taking anymore orders.

The previous excuse given for a delay were that there were ‘authoring issues’ which lead to the delay being until December 2022 and they seem to have been disproved by those lucky enough to have received copies pre-last minute rescheduling. Apparently there were no audio or picture faults with the sets they received.

So lots of possibilities either it’s been ‘canned’ completely, or fingers crossed there is a version with bonuses (uninterrupted Rooftop Concert etc, original ‘Let It Be’ film) or better still the extended version Peter Jackson wants released?

  2. Have just been onto TheBeatles.com and noted that they have an estimated release date for “Get Back” BluRay/DVD of the 27th of May 2022.
One wonders if the Amazon date of December the 31st 2022 is purely a ‘placeholder’ of sorts.

  3. Interesting that 24 hours after us getting a message from Amazon UK mentioning the delay there has been nothing through any other official channels. Not least TheBeatles.com

  4. Sadly, I think Alain is right. Amazon has just emailed to say that the expected delivery has been put back by the supplier and is now 31 December 2022. Paul, do you now think this is a question if IF rather than when this Blu Ray becomes available?

  5. Just had an email from Amazon UK stating that The Beatles “Get Back” Blu Ray/DVD is now due December 31st 2022.
That must have been quite some glitch to cause a now ten month delay.

  6. Amazon: Hello,

Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed below was changed by the supplier, and we need to provide you with a new estimated delivery date based on the new release date:

“The Beatles: Get Back – Blu-ray Collector’s Set [Region Free]”
    Estimated arrival date: January 07 2023 – January 17 2023

  7. Disney is NOT going to release the blu ray anytime soon. They’re having second thoughts about the content so it might take a while. There might be radical changes in content, so maybe next autumn, possibly later

      1. Depending on the source you listen to, the delay might be due to either a rethinking of the content, or a technical issue with the surround track.

Either way, I suppose, the answer to your question is yes.

  8. BluRay / DVD release with no extras makes some sense. Disney get their product out there for those that like physical product in their hands. Doco tells a great narrative and it will no doubt win a lot of awards and a provide temporary surge in subscribers for D+. Disney also have the rooftop performance which are the Crown Jewels of the doco with complete song performances.

For their part, Apple get to use footage all other completed takes, especially those recorded on the last day. Plus they’ll have access to hours of footage not used in the doco, as well as access to the rooftop show as well. Who knows, they might even add a postscript for the sessions the Threetles did for overdubs and the recording of I Me Mine. You could end the Apple BluRay / DVD with Paul collecting his Grammy for Long and Winding Road. Happy days!

  9. I wonder if a DVD release of the 1970 Let It Be will use the footage from January 1969 that was restored by Ron Furmanek? Apparently loads of stuff was renovated for the Anthology and a possible DVD release to coincide with Let It Be Naked. Get Back is fascinating, but I think it tries to push the ‘We didn’t really hate each other’ thing a bit too much. And using a ‘vents dummy’ version of Two Of Us instead of the released version was taking it a bit far. A more balanced and song focused film would have been better. And I hope we get that when (or if?) the Let It Be film is finally reissued.

    1. “Vents dummy?” What are you on about, son?
Also, This IS the fair and balanced version! The unfair, unbalanced version was the one released in 1970. It unfairly emphasized the worst bits and edited it in such a way as to deceive the public into thinking they were at each other’s throats. This is clearly not the case. If you have ever listened to the Nagra recordings (as I have) you will discover (as I did several years ago) that there was NO evidence of them fighting like cats and dogs anywhere in them. When I heard about this film I thought, “At last! People will find out the truth that they weren’t trying to kill each other, that John never made nasty comments about “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer” to Paul, and any number of other fairy tales that have been told about this period by people who weren’t there are not true!”
It’s time to let it go. This is the best record of these sessions beyond seeing every bit of footage, which if you did, would leave you with the same impression.

      1. Yes they did seem happy enough!!
Saying that how many hours of film did we not see??
So did John just leave his disapproving comments about Maxwell’s hammer for his rolling stone interview with Jann wenner???
It’s been 40 years since I had that book so please forgive me if my memory is wrong,,but don’t think so!!

      2. They both sing it with gritted teeth lips unmoving ‘gottle of gear’ style like ventriloquist would do. I thought it was fun and shows they were enjoying themselves.

  10. I have been enjoying this as it is an amazing insight to this period.
I’m only at part one but I am seeing that Paul is the only one motivated and showing direction in playing,
Ringo looks totally bored and out of it.
George and John don’t seem that interested compared with Paul.
I was surprised to see so many staff as well as Yoko just sitting around reading the paper while the magic was coming together.

I love music documentaries, my favourite being the Tom Petty 4 hour extravaganza’Running Down A Dream’ which was so compelling to see and some of the Springsteen ones are just superb.

The Blu-ray release is pointless for me as I can’t see me watching it more than once but to the super fan, it’s worth owning.

  11. I had planned to buy this (anticipating lots of extras) but, having watched it, I won’t bother. It is dreary, with lots of irrelevant material (like footage with the Maharishi or early Beatles stuff). Technically it is far from perfect. For example, a lot of the dialogue is not synchronised with the picture. (I know: he showed a lot of other footage to go with dialogue that wasn’t filmed but I’m not talking about those sequences. I’m talking about footage with corresponding sound.) Those who want to see the IMAX show or UltraHD discs will be disappointed. As they discussed in the film, it was shot on 16 mm and even blowing up to 35 mm is a stretch.
Jackson’s revisionist version was supposed to show how much the Beatles loved each other and working with each other, in contrast to the negativity of of the ‘Let It Be’ movie. It didn’t. George and Ringo – especially George – frequently looked pissed off, mainly with Paul. The film confirms what many believed, that it was Paul’s arrogance and ego that split the Beatles.

    1. As I posted before, the Beatles broke up for many reasons, including ego clashes, but there are other factors. I also suppose that business problems destroyed the band ultimately. The Get back documentary is very important because it gives us the last glimpse of Beatles friendship. Because a few months later, things went really sour.

    2. Sorry just cannot agree completely with your views about the negativity in the movie. Yes, there were clearly issues between all of them. You seemed to have ignored all the laughing and joviality AFTER George rejoined them, for example. And to see how much they all clearly loved and enjoyed playing live again on the rooftop was a joy to behold. While it’s easy to paint Paul as the one who pissed the others off, he was only trying to keep the band going and in the absence of any other leader (or Epstein) he was always on a loser. You seem to have focused on how some of the disagreements started (eg Paul saying how he wanted George to play certain elements), and forgotten how they ended (Paul saying to George, just play it how you normally would). Just to see how all their jamming and joking in rehearsals culminated in the rooftop concert was quite something and showed what incredible musicians and band they were when they just played together. The fact they went on to make Abbey Road confirms how, despite the issues during the Let It Be sessions, they still had great respect for each other and a desire to make great music and a more fitting end to The Beatles. I really do think it showed much more of the respect, fun and love they all had for/with each other than in the original film which just focused on the negative aspects. A much more rounded view of near the end of The Beatles, in my view.

  12. For anyone bemoaning a free Disney+ subscription that’s over run have you tried ‘McCartney 3,2,1’? Also on D+.
Really interesting documentary series… here’s a bit of the blurb…

Paul McCartney sits down for an in-depth one-on-one with music producer Rick Rubin to discuss his groundbreaking work with The Beatles.

He also digs deep into his solo and Wings work. With (I presume) copies of the master tapes being dissected and discussed (and in the case of The Beatles his contributions to not only his own songs but (especially) those of George and John).

I can’t say it’s ‘history being rewritten’ or ‘blowing your own trumpet’ but sometimes I was left feeling as if he was down playing the other Beatles talents (even on their own songs) ‘Something’ and ‘Taxman’ by George both come to mind, while upping his own (brilliant) contributions.

    Well worth a watch.

    1. Interesting.

This is another recommendation for ‘McCartney 3,2,1’ but my experience was slightly different! I went in expecting it to be more of a Paul puff piece but was heartened to see him talking fondly about the other Beatles and remarking on parts from the others that he really enjoyed.

It is focused on Paul, of course, and there may have been more chatter about the others that got edited out to keep this focus but I, personally, didn’t feel it to be overly self-aggrandizing.

I must say, it’s a great time to be a Beatles fan and Paul seems to be much more reflective and nostalgic about the whole period than he has in the past. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in the Get Back docu, the 3,2,1 series and The Lyrics book over the past few months. I don’t know if there are plans for any more 3,2,1 episodes but I would definitely be interested in watching more of these.

      1. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen so far, although Paul chewing gum the whole time is rather annoying. Was everyone too scared to tell him to spit it out!!

        1. I found that Rick continually nodding his head like one of thoes dogs you saw on the parcel shelf of a ford cortina really annoying,,so much so I only watched 1 episode!!
But I would recommend Johnny moped on Netflix!! Brilliant

          1. I thought Rick was okay. Clearly in awe of Macca but managed not to be overly sycophantic, I thought.

        2. It’s true. And in Get Back it’s also annoying that he spends all his time touching and scratching and biting his beard. It must be that Paul has a lot of tics.

      2. I’ll have to rewatch it but I’m sure there was a bit where he claims to have done the guitar solo on Taxman then hinted it was because George couldn’t do it (but then throws in a typical McCartney remark (so as deflect that he is basically saying the lead guitarist is not good enough on his own song) about George ‘inviting’ him to do it with ‘Well OK you do it’. It’s then pointed out that the solo has been speeded up and it would have been pretty much impossible for anyone to do it. Which makes McCartney remember that it was recorded at a lower pitch and speeded up. So taking credit but not fully explaining until it’s pointed out to him how he ‘supposedly’ did what he’s already given himself credit for.

  13. At what time, in which episode, of the get back documentary, does Ringo fart? This question will be added to the Beatles trivial pursuit next edition!

  14. I think I will wait for the inevitable director’s cut a couple of years down the line. The documentary is great, but I can’t think why I’d want to shell out for it this soon after seeing it.

  15. I‘m so glad that I own a copy of the original movie (also „Help“ in german which isn‘t available, too), so I‘ll pass this.
The recent SDE‘s getting more & more too expensive with lesser content of interest, but that is really my personal opinion. Exceptions are e.g. Jethro Tull, which are excellent.

    Jürgen

  16. I’m sure it’s been said, but the extras should and could easily be: 1- the rooftop gig without the cut away interviews.
2- the original Documentary (as dull as it is in comparison to the Jackson one)
3- The Let It Be album but the video version showing all the footage that made up the album (some of which was buried under the end credits!)

    How hard would that be?

  17. Why where the Beatles so off with Peter seller’s?
He realised this after a couple of minutes and excused himself!!
This was a total genius who played 3 parts in Dr strangelove only 5 years before!! Was Peter not a goon?? I thought they where hero’s to the fab 4????

    1. Maybe because Peter Sellers was about to “borrow” Ringo for that silly movie in just a few days time. They may have felt he was interfering with their ability to take their time with Get Back rehearsals. ???

    2. Another thought – it looked like Peter Sellers just happened to catch them at a really bad time. They seemed to be quite stressed and tense towards each other in that whole sequence, esp. John. He was showing a very snarky and sarcastic side with all that spontaneous chatter. It finally brought some laughter, but it was apparent that something uncomfortable had happened, and Peter just picked the wrong moment to appear.

    3. George had left and the Beatles had ground to a hilt, not really sure how or where to do, or even if to go ahead with a show, or even carry on.

  18. Having seen GET BACK, Jackson’s excellent 3-part documentary, now I would have preferred the physical edit of the original LET IT BE movie as it includes the full shots of the final versions of the songs, in particular the excellent clips recorded on day after the rooftop concert: the songs Two of us, Let It Be and The long and Widing Road. In them The Beatles play live what are the definitive versions of these songs, they are posing as if it were a final video clip, no longer in rehearsal mode, so it is a perfect complement to the rooftop concert for the rest of the slow songs that appear on the album. Also, add the full versions of For You Blue and Don’t Let me Down.
I do not know why the full versions do not appear in GET BACK, I suppose to charge us 2 or 3 times for it, or because of the rights of the songs, which Disney may not have.
In any case, my final reflection is that the original film has more power of revisualization than the documentary GET BACK, for having the complete songs. Instead, the documentary provides more information, which once viewed, does not invite so much to repeat the viewing.

  19. Why no Jackson extended cut? No original ‘Let It Be’? An absolutely pointless release, consistent with Disney’s general disdain for physical media.

I could easily have watched another 10+ hours of what aired on Disney. I found it all so fascinating. I was left wanting more though, starting with the the last day at Apple, which yielded a lot of ‘final takes’ but on the Disney release was rushed through the end credits.

  20. I know it’s all about The Beatles but I would like to take this opportunity to wish a happy birthday to Elvis Presley who would have turned 87 years old today.

I still have the collectible card, from the bubblegum packs containing Beatles photocards which were sold here in Denmark in the early 60’s, showing The King together with The Fab Four. It is my favourite collectible card together with a card showing The Fab Four together with The Greatest (Muhammad Ali). Both were handed down to me from my uncle as part of a bundle of these Beatles collectible cards together with a bundle of 7″ inch Beatles singles released by the Danish record label Odeon which was a sub-label to the British Parlophone label and part of the EMI group.

Will I buy this Get Back release ? Of course I will, same as everything else released of The Beatles or Elvis Presley.

    1. He would not turn 87, he does turn 87 ! Remember he’s still alive and hiding somewhere ! Why not in Denmark ? Aarhus is the perfect place to go undetected ;)

      1. You’re right of course. And come to think of it, I think I saw somebody in Aarhus around christmas time looking a lot like a 87 year old Elvis! Anyway, how on earth do you know about Aarhus Mr. Remi?

        1. I don’t think Elvis is alive anymore but I did see Jim Morrison riding a bike in the Vondelpark here in Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago

    1. Not wanting to really go there but if you look at how McCartney has acted over the last decade or so it’s hard to ignore the fact he likely had a big part to play with the squabbles. He seems to get more petty/childish the older he gets and sadly doesn’t realise The Beatles aren’t even considered relevant to the Adele/Sheeran generation.

      1. I can’t even begin to count the number of artists whose music I absolutely love but who aren’t really great people. And while I agree with you about McCartney, many of my favorite artists seem far worse than anything he’s ever been accused of doing. So I can’t get too worked up about him.

        1. Not sure what’s mean by ‘relevant’, but I tend to agree. Last year, my 12-year old son had to do a presentation at school. He chose, yes, ‘The Beatles’, because he likes the music, especially the early years, as are his friends. He is also a great fan of the ‘Yellow Submarine’-movie. But, then he also likes, ‘Rip, Rig & Panic’ by Roland Kirk.

  21. It is available also on Amazon Canada and elsewhere i guess. This is a great thing. I did not wanted to see it on Disney+ and was hoping to have a dvd instead. I prefer have physical copy and did not wanted to pay for a one month access for only this since i dont watch anything on their channel. I did not like also the idea of having to watch this for many hours in a 3 day period when it came out on Disney+ and i was also working at my job. Its great to see this come on blu ray. I already preordered my copy and cant wait to get it and see this awesome footage. I have been a Beatles fan as long as i can remember and this material is a real gem.

  22. I don’t get it. This set contains what’s on Disney+ and nothing more. What’s the point when I can just watch it on Disney+ anyway? A wasted opportunity.

      1. It was bad enough that Disney was involved in the first place – they are a horrible company. Now I’ll have to actually buy something with their name on it!

    1. You are lucky Disney have even released it in a physical format as outside of the classic film franchises they don’t do physical these days. Also in terms of blu and 4K you aren’t going to get the same quality with streaming as a general rule of thumb, I’ve watched many films on Prime for example then bought the disc as it’s a grade above even with a decent internet connection. Also this website is called Super Deluxe Edition not Super Digital Edition, apologies Paul if that jokes been made before…

      1. I don’t know where the “Disney doesn’t do physical” thing is coming from. They’ve been releasing Pixar, MCU, FOX, and their own movies right along, even throughout the pandemic. The only things they haven’t been releasing (at least not yet) are the exclusive streaming series, which is their main selling point for their service right now, so you’re not likely to see The Mandalorian or Loki any time soon, though they haven’t said there will never be a release.

  23. This is great news, especially so quickly after the tv airing.

The absence of the Let It Be film from the set is no loss really – it’s not a great movie, being 40 minutes of rehearsal followed by three music videos and an edited rooftop show. It’s gained significant kudos over the years because it was the only decent quality footage of the Beatles in 1969 but the plethora of Peter Jackson mastered footage renders it somewhat redundant.

I watched Let It Be on NYE with my wife, probably the first time since it was on tv back in the early eighties. There’s some interesting things in there, mostly around George’s disenchantment and him rubbing up against Paul. Aside from the infamous ‘I’ll play whatever you want’ clip there’s a fascinating couple of minutes with Paul confiding in John his concerns about George. Throughout it, John says nothing; he just stares at Paul with a look that suggests he’d rather be somewhere else far away. That aside, it’s not necessarily a riveting experience – we followed it with Spinal Tap (the previous NYE we’d watched Help! followed by The Rutles and I swear you couldn’t see the join where one ended and the other started).

Finally, pity the poor devils who have already shelled out for home made dvd-r copies of the tv series. $99.99 to you squire, courtesy of eBay.

    1. And to think – if only one of them, Mal Evans, M.L.-Hogg, etc….had taken a few minutes to go get the necessary permits or found a decent venue instead, the course of Beatles history might have changed. It’s such a pity that the Beatles were so rudderless and seemingly out of practical ideas at that point in their careers. Their music was still so good, but they just didn’t know how to present themselves to the world without Brian Epstein.

      1. The rooftop wasn’t set up for the piano numbers (so The Long & Winding Road and Let It Be were never going to feature), George said he didn’t want to do any numbers (so no For You Blue or I Me Mine) and wasn’t set up for acoustic songs either (Two Of Us, Across The Universe). Due to the limitations of the rooftop and the January weather and how rehearsals had gone the ‘concert’ was reduced to getting usable takes of Get Back, Don’t Let Me Down, Dig A Pony, I’ve Got A Feeling and One After 909. 5 songs tops. The police stopping things after they’d done the 5 songs turned out to be rather handy given the lack of new material ready to perform.

        1. Absolutely agree – and that goes to show again that sadly, they were not highly motivated w/ a clear direction or purpose by that point. John was brilliant when he was on task, George was apathetic and thinking ahead to a solo LP, Ringo was preoccupied with an impending deadline, and even Paul couldn’t conceive of a brilliant idea to build everything around. Seems like there were too many cooks in the kitchen. I kept yelling at the telly: “Book Royal Albert Hall or the Saville Theatre! Play 7 new songs and 7 songs from The White Album!”

          1. The thing I found strangest about their plans for a ‘show’ was that while I get that it was about ‘the new album’ there weren’t rehearsing ANY old songs, which is kind of absurd. Imagine going to a Beatles gig in 1969 and them not playing any songs that you know. Yes, I would have taken it :) but it definitely would have seemed weird at the time!

          2. No, it would be like ‘Before The Dawn’ being a live show featuring ONLY new material that no one had ever heard before.

    1. Which half? Honestly, if somebody wants to watch this I’m pretty sure they can. Smart TVs, streaming sticks, they’re all out there and in the case of streaming sticks they’re cheaper to buy than the forthcoming BluRay box.

I don’t know a single person who was desperate to watch this, who hasn’t now seen it.

      1. People who live in Eastern Europe along with the majority of both African and Asian countries can’t (legally) get Disney+, so Romchik makes a valid point.

        1. Would I be right in thinking that those same parts of the world don’t have (legal) access to quite a lot of stuff? The idea that “fn Disney plus” are the bad guys in all this is something that I just don’t understand. “Fn Disney plus” did at least offer a free month to anyone who wanted to watch.

  24. I am aware that I am in the minority here but I am not interested in sitting through 9 hrs of sessions of any band or musician incl. banter and such once so this leaves me all cold and unimpressed.
To me personally those documentaries take away something of the magic the final product will always have.
Must be an age thing, last time I tried to watch a live concert ( Steven Wilson at RAH) I fell asleep on the couch. Audio seems to work for me better than video.
    Peace.

    1. I have the opposite reaction: for me, it enhances the magic, as you can hear and see the more complete reality of the ‘final product’. Compare it with a picture (‘final product’) and a home video (SDE), both have unique merit. The ‘final product’ has always had, for me, a slightly unreal quality, also when I was much younger. Or, more pertinent maybe, how the Esher Demos enhance the magic of The White Album. I’m not in a hurry to see ‘Get Back’, I’m still working my way through the 50th Anniv. Box Sets. It can wait, Time doesn’t exist anyway …

    2. No no, not an ‘age thing’ my friend. I myself watched the entire documentary and was bored to kingdom come by the first two episodes.
However, the third episode includes George getting back with the band and was interesting, if only to learn about his personal views (as opposed to Paul’s direction ) regarding his own contributions to the recordings and how he felt his voice should not be ignored by the other band members. Which is pretty much why he left the band.
Anyway, the best part of the final episode was (obviously) the rooftop performance which I enjoyed immensely due to the remastering of this classic performance on video.

Don’t get me wrong, I love ‘extended cuts’ because you get to watch something exactly as the director intended, and I think Peter Jackson did an amazing job with his extended versions of The Lord Of The Rings series, but in the case of Get Back, I think not.
I personally think all the ‘bantering’ from the Beatles should have been minimized to not more than 60 minutes to keep the viewer’s interest peaked.
Certainly I will never make the time to watch the entire documentary again, albeit I will be ordering the Bluray edition (thanks, Paul Sinclair for informing us that it will include Dolby Atmos!) just so I can watch the rooftop performance again…and again.

Because The World Is Round and because that is a true gem in the history of live recordings made by any band.

      1. You are right, not an age thing. 20 smth years ago I bought the Beatles Anthology on dvd and only made it through disc one. I could not re-sell it fast enough on ebay because I knew I would not go there again…

    3. I agree. For some part, this true of deluxe box sets too but I buy them any way.
I wonder how many people feel the same. How many truly listen to each disc in the umpteenth Bowie box set?

      1. This discussion – about a truly wonderful piece of work by Peter Jackson about the most extraordinary group in the history of pop music – is certainly getting very negative.

Now we’re getting people having a go at “deluxe box sets” on the Super Deluxe Edition website! (The clue is in the name).

I thought Get Back was truly remarkable. I’ve loved The Beatles for decades To see them interacting like this was beyond my wildest dreams. It inspired me to buy the audio boxed set and I hope to rewatch it soon.

I’d love a more expansive set than this later in the year but for now it’s coming out on physical media – something some commentators on this site were saying would never happen very recently. This is all a cause for celebration, especially when nobody’s being forced to buy a single one of these products.

        1. @Sean – quite right. This peek into their inner workings has been fascinating and revelatory. I well remember when the original LP came out in 1970 (I was ten), and I noticed how it was “different” somehow from their typical studio releases. Part live, part studio, part jamming, chatter, etc… A “new phase” Beatle Album indeed. But it was many years later until it became general knowledge what had transpired at that time; the reverse chronology of compositions and actual releases, the bickering, etc. So it’s been amazing to see all this footage. We see four gifted musicians who are well aware that they’d changed and influenced the music world in just 6 years, and yet who are often childish, petulant, impatient, and ultimately drifting apart both professionally and emotionally. And thru all of that, they have the creative spark and genius to craft some of the most amazing and enduring songs right out of thin air. So – we are so fortunate to have this in ALL it’s forms, physical or otherwise. I for one am lapping it up. Cheers to Paul Sinclair for this magnificent site and all the news you bring us. My shelves are full and I’m building more..!!

    4. It’s not an age thing, I’ve always preferred audio to video (for music) and I have no intention of sitting through this. Would have preferred a CD release of the roof top concert. As for Peter Jackson, I loved Bad Taste and Brain Dead, but nothing has appealed to me since.

    5. It sounds dull on paper but I’ve been really surprised that friends and family who are not massive music nerds or Beatle-ologists have been absolutely gripped by Get Back. It’s not really just a few reels of ‘sessions and banter’ edited together, it’s a very coherent piece of Fly-on-the-wall. You’re transported to 1969 and there in the room as the Beatles rehearse, compose new tunes, laugh, argue, smoke and drink endless cups of tea and weak orange juice, nurse hangovers and ponder their own future aloud. There are surprises galore and several genuinely moving and touching moments and if you find yourself drifting off after take 38 of ‘I’ve Got a Feeling’ beware, because you’ll miss something interesting or significant. It does have a narrative arc to it, and everything you see is there for a reason. By the end of it, if anything I felt reconnected with the band and the magic was absolutely enhanced by the film and when you pull back the curtain, the Wizards are still there!

      1. Agree completely.I am not a huge music on film fan.Rarely watch a concert DVD/Bluray more than once or twice. However I found this totally riveting and after a few months will watch it again.
It has a fantastic narrative arc which is great credit to Peter Jackson.
Most enjoyable when I disciplined myself to watching 2 days in a sitting which kept it feeling fresh.
        Best music doco ever made.

    6. I think you are wrong when you talk about magic Marillo-Tom. To see the musicians perform on new stuff and create songs and discuss about it is just unbelievable and shows us the magic of the process. The final product on albums is all made in studios and so much modified with mixing and everything that it removes all the magic. Now you can see how they really worked on songs and this is the magic of the process. With the blu ray discs , you can also decide to watch just an hour or like you want and then continue watch it another time. You dont have to sit for 9 hours and watch it in full on the same day. This is not just a studio performance while recording an album but also the creation of songs and also the rooftop concert they made. Its a big chance having the possibility to see this. Beatles was one of the greatest band ever. For sure if you are not a Beatles fan and dont like them , it might not be interesting for you. Personally i would not watch a documentary about a band i hate or dont like but Beatles is still one of the greatest band ever and because of this it would already be a good reason to watch it. By the way , who is Steven Wilson ? I might have fallen asleep too. I listened to a Steven Wilson song and yes its boring i agree.

    7. Yeah, I confess that seems an odd perspective on this website, of all websites. :) As for me, if I love the music or artist enough, I want everything I can get my paws on. I want to know what the weather was like on the days of the recording sessions. I want to know if the rhythm guitarist changed strings before the take used for the single. I want to know if someone else was booked in the room immediately afterward, and if they caught any of the recording session, and what their impressions were. Anything, everything.

  25. Jackson has said he sees his film as The Making of ‘Let It Be’ feature film. The reason those full takes aren’t in Get Back is because they are in Let It Be. His team were able to identify and shots that were in the original film and wherever possible they used alternate angles. He, unlike many people, has respect for Michael Lindsay Hogg and the film he made under completely different conditions and brief than Peter Jackson did.

Perhaps this 1hour cut that they are IMAXing will be the complete concert without cutaways but the police and passerbys stuff is fascinating and hilarious. Especially when you realise the Sgt that comes in to look for his coppers was 24 years old, younger than all the Beatles were but looks 47.

I think this bare bones release is a testing ground to see if there is demand for physical product as Disney said that they isn’t anymore. If it sells well then they and Apple will put out a SDE set for Christmas. Four Blu Ray with Jacksons 10 hour cut (he said there is a good 2 hours of extra material), the rooftop in its entirety and a CD of the gig. I don’t see Apple going into the vaults again for other out takes

Peter Jackson did a 4 hour interview with Things We Said Today podcast about the film from a fan and filmmakers viewpoint. It makes you appreciate how lucky we are that he got the job, how much work has gone into it and the archive he has left for the future. Its exhaustive but fascinating – bit like Get Back

    1. From what I have seen – and that’s not a lot yet – and know about Peter Jackson, I think you are totally right. Great that you pointed this out !

    2. Glad the full takes are in the Let it Be film… which isn’t available to buy except as an un-restored bootleg sourced from old VHS tapes. Magic! Its super to know all the restored footage and original camera angles selected are now looking pristine in an archive somewhere.

The scene where Ringo farts and apologies for farting lasts almost as long as most of the clips of the master takes of performances not included in the Rooftop concert.

      1. Ragman – exactly! If “Let It Be” will be out cleaned up at some point in the next year and that’s the reason for the omission of the master takes, then okay, but why not tell us that Apple! Watching the “Get Back” documentary, it was very exciting suddenly hearing the band playing the master take and watching them make a sound I’ve been only listening to for years and it was amazing. But then very disappointing for them to cut away to Ringo farting etc. at the expense of letting the song complete and the 3 ballads being dispensed with in the closing credits – a bizarre decision. especially when Peter Jackson implied that was our lot, no extras and no revisiting the vault. If “Let It Be” is getting cleaned up, then great. If it’s not, it’s terribly disappointing and a very dissatisfying end to the saga. The missing film of the rest of the songs, even alternate angles would be something. I do wonder if they are doing a new “Let It Be”, to match this, won’t they need to go back to the source material and basically recreate the film? If they just use the original print, even if cleaned up, I’m guessing it won’t look as sharp as “Get Back”.

  26. Thanks Paul for this info. I’ve watched the 3 episodes on Disney+ three times (I ended my subscription just after, Disney content don’t fit with me). I place my order with Amazon right away (good price). Those episodes won’t stick on Disney channel forever. So having it in house, I’ll watch it anytime I desired and anywhere I go with a decent BD player. Friends can also use it who are not on Disney+. Its part of my Beatles ”Holding the Music in Your Hands ” collection. For sure there will be new Let it be products to be release and they will all be all different, but you can never tell how. The merit here is the episodes witness historical moments and shows a bit how a music band is all about in real life. I think its the point here with this Peter Jackson film. The musical thing will probably comes later.

  27. Perhaps more importantly, it was announced today that the ‘Four Lads That Shook The Wirral’, Half Man Half Biscuit have a new album out in February – The Voltarol Years.

CD due in Feb with the vinyl to follow in July.

  28. It’s only been a few months since it premiered on Disney+. I’m assuming this release only serves to make Get Back more accessible to everyone. I don’t think they’d want this release to “one-up” what’s already streaming on Disney+. Perhaps there’s a “super deluxe” version to market when the time is right. Here’s hoping!

  29. Peter Jackson asked Disney about an extended cut but they said no as no one buys extended cuts !! Jackson did say that Disney might change their mind if all us fans wrote to them and asked for it, thus proving that an extended version might just sell ! If someone has already said this, apologies for the repetition !

    1. Yeah, just like they did with ” Zack Snyder´s Justice League ” which is the best super hereo movie ever made, over 4 hours with Batman & Co. Were can I sign in for an extended cut ?

  30. P.S. ‘Women & Wives (Studio Outtake)’ was released by Paul McCartney on 17th December on streaming services. I presume it was one of the bonus tracks from those multiple CD editions of the remix album?

  31. I shouldn’t be surprised by the negative feedback really. All of the desired items will be released but over the maximum amount of formats to generate the highest amount of revenue. The music / film industry has always been that way…

  32. Yup. Ridiculous as I’m sure most people agree that there is no extra footage of complete final rehearsal takes which part 3 so needed…..also an interrupted Rooftop performance would have been favourable….very annoying when a company does something so brilliantly but misses out something so obvious!
Of course the original Let It Be film needs releasing…they have missed a huge opportunity for a large BLU-RAY boxset here….

  33. Wow! This is such great news. I really enjoyed the Disney+ three parter (so much so I’ve watched all three episodes three times over). I really hope they use that cover art it’s so clever.

The Atmos soundtrack was also a revelation and I’m surprised that they haven’t issued a Blu Ray Audio of the complete Rooftop concert (maybe it’s on the ‘Let it Be’ Boxset? A stereo vinyl album (picture disc/coloured vinyl options) of the concert would be my next move if I was at Apple. :)

  34. On DVD, Blu-ray, videocassette or Laserdisc, Get back is an essential piece of musical history. I just couldn’t believe it when I saw it. They look so young, so alive… If we had this for the Revolver sessions (or any album), that would be heaven !

        1. Yes, I know; I can read too. It’s temporary artwork but it’s still marketing that leaves a permanent trace. A shoddy placeholder is still bad design that potentially reflects badly in the artist. Ask yourself this: is it consistent with Beatles releases through Universal. Clearly not.

          1. “I can read too”…Jesus. Charming. I was replying to Steven Roberts, anyway, who was simply criticising it without caveats.

          2. ‘I can read too’ should be copyrighted and retired from use on this fine forum.

          3. Chill out man, why not wait until you see the final version before commenting ……

        2. I agree, that artwork looks like something from The Works bargain bin. I *think* that on the beatles.com this is show not as ‘temporary’ but as the finished artwork. But I’m relying on memory. And I’m not sure my memory can read too …

  35. For those bemoaning the lack of a 4K release it’s highly likely this could be released in that format in another region.
Sadly the UK market for 4K isn’t that great and various films whilst being released elsewhere (Germany, France usually) don’t get issued here other than on blu or DVD as the demand isn’t that great. Rather ironic when you consider where the band originate from but perhaps Brexit and the little Englander mentality that came from that has isolated us…

  36. Very disappointed that its the Disney+ version with no extras. I was massively disappointed that after all the talk of restored footage, and after the 1+DVD had such grainy footage from Let It Be that the rooftop footage preserves all the pointless voxpops on the street (Q: Who do you think that is playing up there? A: The Beatles Q: Do you like The Beatles A: Yes but it would be better if we could see them) and the police arriving outside, police at reception, police on the rooftop watching etc. No fan that sits through 7.5 hours to reach the Rooftop section of Get Back doesn’t already know the police stop the gig due to complaints about the noise, and likewise doesn’t already know who the band is playing on the roof. Its the last time John, Paul, George and Ringo played a live ‘gig’ together – the whole thing is filmed and during every flipping song from it Peter Jackson cuts away from the Beatles to voxpops or the plods, and he also cuts away from sound desk sound to how it sounded on cameras across the street on opposite roofs.

Back to the issue with the fanfare about the restored footage again, I had hoped a DVD release would give us the restored version of the full songs available on the 1+ DVD. I found it maddening that after hours of discussion about the concert and the documentary and the future of the band and hours of sloppy rehearsals when they were working out arrangement ideas that there was no satisfying resolution where Peter Jackson let us see and hear the takes that got used on Let It Be in full. The most annoying subtitle in the history of rockumentaries was “This take / performance was the one used on the Let It Be album / Get Back single” followed by Jackson cutting away from said performance after about 30 seconds to more doodling rehearsals or Ringo announcing he’d farted. I think most Beatles fans would have hoped that in amongst all the false starts and material they messed around with that when they nailed Let it Be and perfected Get Back or Don’t Let Me Down that we’d get to see the full performance instead of a 30 second clip of it.

    1. My thoughts exactly, re: not showing or playing full takes. Then I thought, this is all about cross promotion. The Let It Be reissues are promoted by the book & documentary as well as the album promoting sales of the book & documentary. We agreed we weren’t a big fan of Let It Be, but something strange happened – we watched Get Back over 3 nights, and within 2 weeks I’d bought the super deluxe of Let It Be & the Get Back book for Christmas. I’m not easily led, on this occasion though, I feel like somebody grabbed by bank card & brainwashed me. I’m not displeased though. I’m definitely not a Beatles fan, I’ve come to enjoy later stuff more since the deluxe reissues started & I bought them as presents. There’s no doubt that this whole “Let It Be / Get Back” marketing campaign has been a great success, they certainly relieved me of several hundred pounds.

  37. This is completely understandable, release it while there’s demand; however it’s not like it’s going anywhere. Looking at the daily Apple movie charts, there are a lot of people who will happily pay £14 for a HD vanilla film download rather than take out an £8 a month subscription to Disney and watch the same film (or series) with access to 1000s of others for less than the cost of one film.
I enjoyed the 3-part series when it came out but I doubt I’d have the time or want to watch the whole thing through again for at least another year or few. It can wait, if I ever do buy it in future it’ll be 4K UHD or not at all.

  38. Just placed my order for this with Amazon UK; it lists the release date as 28th February as Paul has written, but then gave me an estimated delivery date of 5th March! As I am a Prime customer, I would have expected next day delivery. Maybe it IS a bit of a rush release and some slippage may yet occur?

  39. We were never going to get the original Let It Be documentary/movie with this release. This is a Disney Studios release and as we all (should) know Disney has no rights to the original Let It Be.

In my opinion I dont see why anyone would want to watch the original after watchingGet Backnot when you can shove needles down your fingernails.

Ive ordered this but I suspect those greedy b@st@rds at Apple/Disney will release a Special Edition with extras* in six months time so I will probably cancel my order.

*Extras that dont includeLet It Be`

      1. At least the original film had some complete performances… I’d love to know why Peter Jackson favours a restored audio recording of a conversation over showing us the complete performances of the master takes of the likes of Two Of Us, Don’t Let Me Down, The Long & Winding Road, Let It Be. The trailer they put out last year with the band doing an alternate take of Get Back is the longest performance piece Jackson has let fans see so far of a reasonable take of one of the songs… and that’s after sitting through 8 hours of rehearsal footage and discussions and arguments. It was like the main thing he wanted to do was show the band were on reasonably good speaking terms during the sessions (despite George quitting & Lennon saying let’s get Clapton in!).

        1. Possibly because they were ‘downloadable’ and then the ‘downloader’ could cut the performance pieces out and then not buy the Blu-ray. They can’t really believe that, could they? For if they do, then they have no clue how a ‘Beatles’ fan or music fan behaves. OK there may be a few who would go to such extremes (i’m not too sure how easy/hard the re-assembling would be – pardon my advanced years) but then they would also buy the product as well. It’s not going to lose Disney+ any sales. Pretty much the same logic that record companies had hating people buying advance/promo cdrs that they sent out for free – they couldn’t get to understand that those did not hurt sales at all – and god knows I tried several times. For if they were buying those, then chances are that they would also be buying every format from every country! Same goes for bootlegs – who would want an inferior product INSTEAD of the official release.

    1. I still think that the original film is a potent document in terms of showing the other side of what the documentary shows. From what I understand the documentary is made of all the outtakes from the film which means it doesn’t contain anything from what was shown in the original film therefore making the original film a de-facto bonus material.

      1. There are scenes on this release that were in the original film (The McCartney/Harrison ‘I’ll play it whatever way you want’ scene etc)… maybe the scenes are taken from different angles.

I picked up a bootleg copy of the ‘Let It Be’ film on two DVD’s for £2 at a Comic Convention a few months ago ‘subtitled ‘The Winter of Discontent’ and maybe this was yet another version of the film but it was pretty grim viewing, with lots more scenes involving Yoko, and lots of these really annoying screeches (which weren’t her but I presume cues for the film editors. ;)

    2. To be fair to Disney outside of the main blockbusters franchises (Lion King, Dumbo etc etc) they aren’t one for double dips and really can’t see them doing that with this. They aren’t really keen on physical media these days Hell you can’t even get a physical copy of The Mandalorian which is a huge hit for them let alone would sell bucketloads to Star Wars devotees…

    3. didnt peter jackson say he left most of the original film out of his documentary? I can think of at least 2 scenes not in both – so i still think the original stands up as a document worth seeing – albeit an inferior one.

  40. I always laugh when you get the “final artwork may not be the shown image”. Surely they know. It’s due out in less than 8 weeks. Does that mean no product has actually been produced yet? Cutting it fine if it hasn’t. And if they have gone into production why say the picture may not be final?

  41. If the artwork isn’t confirmed does that suggest a rush-release? I must admit I wasn’t expecting this until later in the year amid a larger box with other content that other Beatle nuts seem to be pushing for… Personally, I watched it on Disney+ and although I enjoyed it, and the ‘experience’ of sharing what I had seen with others, I found my attention sagging on each episode with take after take of the same song. I need some distance before watching it again so I’ll pass on it for now.

  42. I signed up for Disney+ just to see Get Back, then forgot to cancel my subscription in time. So spending £30 on that really does mean I should have waited for this. But, yeah! I was caught up in all the hype.

  43. Surely the rooftop film that’s going into the IMAX cinemas will be part of a 2nd release, perhaps with the original film? For once, I think I’d have preferred the whole lot in the one box.

Still, the world has bigger problems…

  44. *Very* disappointed there’ll be no original ‘Let It Be’.
The thing ‘wrong’ with the Peter Jackson edit is that there are very few – if any – complete song edits in the whole seven hours.
I doubt very much I’ll be shelling out on this.
Add ‘Let It Be’ and I’d already have pre-ordered.

  45. I have a copy of the original Let It Be film, which I got ages ago as I was interested to see what the fuss was about, but never actually got round to watching. When this was intitially announced I thought ‘great I’ll finally get a decent copy’, so I’m a bit disappointed it’s not in the package. I’ll trust what others have said, that there will probably be an expanded edition later and see what happens.

  46. Well I’m delighted with the news!! I don’t subscribe to Disney+ and much prefer a physical copy anyway as with all music and film releases. Needless to say I’ve pre ordered my 3 blu ray set.
Thank you Paul, you’ve made my day.

  47. it was a wonderful watch on disney + .Having seen it once
it doesn’t strike me as something i need to own . The rooftop concert
i never realised consisted of multiple takes of the same songs and is frankly the least interesting bit .
Not to take away from Jacksons work which is/was phenomenal .

    1. Hi Remi, Vanilla compares a release to a basic ice cream, everyday, ordinary and mundane. Keeping with the theme an ideal release would have extra flavourings or sprinkles such as 4k, Dolby Atmos or other exclusive content.
In common with ice cream the advertising and packaging create expectations often don’t match reality.

    1. There’s no real 4K in the movie. It was shot on 16mm which isn’t even enough for 1080p. And then Peter Jackson also scrubbed all grain and soften the image. Basically it look 720p at best.

      1. That is nonsense. I wouldn’t want to send 8mm to 4K but it looks fine in 2K (2048 x 1500), and 16mm goes just fine to 4K (4096 x 3000). It is literally what I do. To say 16mm isn’t good enough for 1080p is an “alternative fact” at best.

        1. You’re just getting more detailed grain. The actual useful visual information is not comparable to clean 1080p image. You need 35mm film for 1080p. For 4K you need 65mm. Most movies released on 4K don’t have any advantages over standard Blu-ray.

          1. I was wondering that about depeche mode 101. The original is so grainy. Is there any point of getting it on blu ray or 4K? Or is that mainly for the audio?

          2. Depends on what you consider the original. Everything is better than DVD, that’s for sure.

          3. Well I was watching the amazon video release which is HD, so I guess the same resolution a blu-ray? I doesn’t even look like VHS quality though. Or maybe like old VHS rental tape quality.

          4. “Most movies released on 4K don’t have any advantages over standard Blu-ray.”
That’s because most UHD Blu-rays are taken from 2K digital masters so, from a resolution perspective (i.e. ignoring the not insignificant benefits of HDR for a moment), don’t offer much more than a 1080p Blu-ray. It’s got nothing to do with needing a 65mm film source.

  48. At last a Beatles box set that’s reasonably priced! I have pre-ordered this and with an Amazon Christmas voucher I got it for £10 which is even better. I haven’t got around to watching it on Disney but prefer having it on a physical medium anyway.

    1. The reason it’s ‘reasonably priced’ (which is debatable anyway) is that theres nothing in there when compared to other Beatles SDE releases! Apart from the basic shows as shown on streaming there are no extras/fancy packaging/4K etc

      1. Well I think £30 is cheap and with the voucher I had like I said it only cost me £10. Who cares about pointless extras that anyone who does watch them is going to watch a maximum of once and as someone else said, Disney+ won’t have it up there forever. Also as someone else said it was shot in the 60s on 16mm film so 4K isn’t going to make it any better, if anything it’ll make it worse as it’ll show up the any imperfections in the picture even more. I know 4K is good I’ve seen it in the cinema but for very old films like that upgrading it to 4K is neither necessary or worth doing, I could read into it if it was a new film with loads of special effects but we’re talking footage of a band from nearly 60 years ago!

        1. Pointless extras? I know there are a tremendous amount of people who hate complete live performances, and actually prefer that live songs are interrupted by interviews and other features, but I do know there is a small but tiny amount of music fans that like to see and hear music without interruptions. I would think the majority on here would love the complete Rooftop show as performed, even though that may sound crazy to some. As for the people wanting the original film, even though it was poorly edited, I think it is important for historical purposes.

  49. People complaining that the 1970 cut of Let It Be isn’t included need to remember that it was promised way back in the days when the Get Back film was proposed as a feature-length recut intended for cinematic release (and Disney not involved) — for Spring of 2020. The tiny matter of Covid completely changed all the plans. And nothing has been said either way to suggest it won’t happen at some time in the future.

What is truly interesting here is that it’s coming out in physical format AT ALL given Disney’s recent policy of keeping their original content strictly online and on demand. Presumably a physical release was part of the deal Disney brokered with Apple. Look at The Mandalorian — two series in and neither an official DVD/Blu ray available, nor plans for one for the foreseeable future. The usual Disney policy is clearly to keep ’em hungry, keep ’em subscribing. But the main difference here is that Disney own Lucasfilm; they do not own Apple.

Apple do it how they like and they call the shots, knowing people want what they have more than they have to negotiate. Quite rightly so. People buy it — I know I will.

    1. Your point works for me! I signed up to Disney+ purely to watch it, not trusting that there would ever be a physical release, as per much speculation over the last twelve months.
Now that there IS to be a physical release I’ll snap it up at £30. I don’t think my brain could cope with holding back amid another year of speculation about an ultimate versions with or without the original feature film. If it happens, brilliant – I’ll be in to buy that too!

  50. I think this is a great price, I treated the lads at work to a 5 guys yesterday, 6 of us came to £84.00 with drinks, £30 for 3 blu rays, bloody marvellous, I’m a big fan of the Disney Channel, but still prefer a nice little box set.

  51. It’s inevitable that a ‘deluxe’ version (including the original Let It Be movie and the 18-hour ‘rough cut’) will emerge. This is a nice stop-gap for those that don’t have access to Disney +, but a total waste of time for those who do.

  52. It’s a shame there appears to be no 4k version of this as the Disney Plus stream was 4k and stunning
I would imagine the full rooftop concert will be issued on Blu Ray and CD for next Christmas in a package with the original film which was supposed to be included in this release but Apple obviously looking to make more money out of us

  53. My only complaint about the otherwise brilliant documentary was that even with over 8 hours of footage, they didn’t let all the album takes (with 2 obvious exceptions) play in full like they did in the “Let It Be” film. Yes I know “Across The Universe” was 1968 and just added to by Spector in 1970 and “I Me Mine” was only taped and not filmed on 3rd Jan 1970, but where were the full versions of “Two Of Us”, “The Long and Winding Road” and “Let It Be” taped on 31st Jan 1969 and where was the FULL version of “For You Blue”, etc. They WERE in the “Let It Be” film and yet we only saw short clips of these actual album cuts in the Get Back documentary (along with some type saying this version was on the album), yet each one cuts off. Only the 3 rooftop cuts from the album (“One After 909”, “Dig A Pony” and “I’ve Got A Feeling”) were played in full. I presumed this was as they were holding them back for a “Let It Be” film re-issue, but now it seems a huge missed opportunity. It’s particularly galling to have to watch a “ventriloquist” take of “Two Of Us” IN FULL and yet not be able to see the album take!

  54. To be fair, a 4K release would be pointless as it was all shot only on 16mm film.
There are rumblings on other sites that this is just a vanilla release at this point…. With a much longer/extended release to follow in the year.

  55. Speculating here, but perhaps the original Let It Be documentary is being saved for another package that includes the full rooftop audio? Seems odd that the rooftop gig was missing from the Get Back boxset, so I can only think Apple have another set planned …

        1. There is no evidence that the IMAX version is anything other than identical to what’s in Get Back. No one has said a “full performance with no cut-aways” exists (i.e. has been created).

          1. I think Glen was referring to it not being included in the Let It Be/Get Back cd box set.

  56. This Collector’s Edition is good for people who don’t have Disney+ but I think I’ll wait for the inevitable deluxe expanded edition including the longer Peter Jackon cut, the original Let It Be and a cd of the rooftop gig (probably in time for next Christmas).

    1. That does seem like a lot of semi-masochistic waiting, if you’ll forgive me saying, given that this is only £30 [my son’s school PE trainers cost me £20 on Amazon yesterday]. I would never tell someone to buy something they don’t want, but my intention is to get this on day one, play it to death, and then pop it off on eBay for a fiver when any Deluxe/Super/Uber Edition becomes available.

      1. If you already have Disney+ on a one year subscription why would you pay £30 more just to get exactly the same thing on disc, with a couple of postcards thrown in ? Surely anyone who was that desperate to see this, and didn’t want to pay, would have taken Disney+ on a free trial when it was first released, watched it to death for free, then cancelled after the free period. Just because its ‘only’ £10 more than a pair of dirt-cheap trainers doesn’t mean its value for money ! LOL

        1. Well, whilst not wishing to [con]descend to your bile, by that logic why don’t we all buy what we want on Amazon, play it to death for 30 days, then send it back for a refund, and get everything for free.

          1. Eh? Do you really not understand the difference between a paid streaming service which offers a free trial period & your suggestion that this is the same as buying product, watching it & returning it for a refund (which oddly is not much different from your own stated plan to buy it, watch it to death then sell it on eBay to get some of your cash back !?) ? If you really define my comment as bile i can only assume you don’t get out much !

        1. I am an old man Ollie, if I am not taking something out of a box or a sleeve and putting it in or on something it is just not the same for me!

  57. I seem to recall the info that the original Let It Be doco would definitely be included in the new release came straight from Peter Jackson some time ago. So this is disappointing news that it’s now not going to be!

Assuming it’ll still come out, but as a separate stand-alone. Cha-ching!
