The Beatles‘ 1968 self-titled double album, universally known as the ‘White Album’ is reissued for its 50th anniversary in November across four physical editions, including a seven-disc super deluxe edition. This is gonna be a good one.

Review: Trevor Horn and band in London

Legendary producer Trevor Horn took to the stage last night at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall to perform a two-hour long set that included many classics from his impressive back catalogue – songs he has written and/or produced. It was also an opportunity for Horn to debut tracks from the forthcoming album Trevor Horn Reimagines The Eighties, which is due for release early next year.

Neil Diamond / 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition / 6CD retrospective

Although UMe/Capitol already ‘celebrated’ Neil Diamond‘s 50 years in music 18 months ago with a three-disc set called the ’50th anniversary collection’ it seems they haven’t celebrated enough and so will this month offer forward the ’50th Anniversary Collectors Edition’ a six-disc hardcover book deluxe package that features the same artwork, but this time includes six CDs of content, including rarities, demos and 14 previously unreleased tracks.

Denis O’Regan on photographing David Bowie on ’83’s Serious Moonlight Tour

Back in July SDE told you about Ricochet: David Bowie 1983 a limited edition art book with photographs by Denis O’Regan taken on Bowie’s Serious Moonlight Tour.

That lavish and highly priced tome (which incorporates four supplementary volumes, a vinyl record and three prints) is still available via the official website, but today sees the release of a smaller, more affordable version by Penguin imprint Particular Books. To mark this occasion SDE publishes in full its interview with Denis O’Regan from earlier on this year where we discussed the book and his time on tour with David Bowie in 1983.

The Allman Brothers Band and Commodores ‘Collected’ coloured vinyl

SDE has in the past described Universal Music Netherlands’ Collected career summaries as one of the best kept secrets in pop/rock compilations. The triple-CD sets are normally very, very good indeed and while Music On Vinyl’s double vinyl editions can’t quite match the track quantity and depth of their CD cousins, they are still worth picking up, especially in limited edition coloured vinyl guise. Two new titles come to double vinyl later this month, The Allman Brothers Band and the Commodores.
