New Paul McCartney songs reviewed + Egypt Station physical formats clarified

SDE verdict on the two new Macca songs

For a song off an album that has a self-styled ‘travelogue’ vibe, there is irony in the fact that the main failing of the otherwise perky Come On To Me is that it doesn’t go anywhere. Macca seems to have lapsed into laziness and convinced himself that the song doesn’t need a middle eight, when really it does. It commits the cardinal sin of the pop song and becomes a bit boring towards the end.

McCartney’s new album, Egypt Station


Paul McCartney‘s new album is titled Egypt Station and will be issued in September.

His 17th studio solo long-player has been produced by Greg Kurstin (except for one Ryan Tedder track) and contains 14 songs, including the ‘double A-side single’ combo of I Don’t Know and Come on to Me. A physical release of this ‘single’ hasn’t been confirmed and isn’t looking particularly likely.

Paul McCartney’s new album will probably be called ‘Egypt Station’

As Neil Finn once sang… now we’re getting somewhere! For the last week, Paul McCartney has been posting rather annoying ‘tease’ images on his instagram and twitter accounts, which appear to be to do with his long-awaited new album. Today at 5pm (BST) the apparent title was made clear. Macca’s new album will (almost certainly) be called Egypt Station!
