Anniversary box coming • New studio album likely in 2019
The Cranberries have confirmed that a 25th anniversary box set edition of their debut Everybody Else Is Doing It So Why Can’t We? was in the works, only to be put on hold when Dolores O’Riordan died in January. Embryonic a-ha album by Bridges to be released for the first time later this year

This is the cover to the first Bridges album
Paul Waaktaar-Savoy confirms the news to SDE
The second album recorded in by Norwegian rock band Bridges is going to be given an official release on vinyl later this year. Along with a few other musicians, a-ha songwriter and guitarist Paul Waaktaar-Savoy was in the group with future a-ha bandmate Magne Furuholmen. Morten Harket would see Bridges play live and with Paul and Magne the trio would head to London (in Paul’s words) “to become pop stars”.

Saturday Deluxe / 3 March 2018
Busy week here at SDE, as usual, even though there is snow chaos in the UK!
The printed ‘keepsake’ edition of the SDE Roxy Music interviews with Andy Mackay and Phil Manzanera came back from the printers. They look superb, even if I do say so myself! Very much consistent with the long sold-out McCartney ‘producers’ booklet from last year, except this time we’ve invested in licensing some archive photos for the front cover and gloss-laminated the cover for a luxury finish. It gives the whole thing a bit of ‘wow’ factor, I hope. Both interviews are there in full and although it’s a snug fit, this will squeeze nicely into the super deluxe edition box set of Roxy Music (I’ve tested it).

Joan Wasser talks to SDE about Joan As Police Woman’s Damned Devotion
Last month Brooklyn-based Joan Wasser released Damned Devotion her fifth album as Joan As Police Woman.
The 12-track record has been on heavy rotation in the SDE office and could well be the strongest JAPW record to date. It has a wonderful array of intimate songs – like Warning Bell, Tell Me, The Silence, Talk About It Later – which explore the murky world of relationships and how human beings communicate (or fail to communicate) with one another.
I was delighted to speak to Joan a few weeks ago to discuss Damned Devotion and started by asking her how long she’d been working on the album…
