Anniversary box coming • New studio album likely in 2019

The Cranberries have confirmed that a 25th anniversary box set edition of their debut Everybody Else Is Doing It So Why Can’t We? was in the works, only to be put on hold when Dolores O’Riordan died in January. After much consideration, the band are now pushing ahead once more – “we have decided to finish what we started” they said.

Morten Harket would see Bridges play live and with Paul and Magne the trio would  head to London (in Paul’s words) “to become pop stars”.

Very much consistent with the long sold-out McCartney ‘producers’ booklet from last year, except this time we’ve invested in licensing some archive photos for the front cover and gloss-laminated the cover for a luxury finish. The 12-track record has been on heavy rotation in the SDE office and could well be the strongest JAPW record to date. It has a wonderful array of intimate songs – like Warning Bell, Tell Me, The Silence, Talk About It Later – which explore the murky world of relationships and how human beings communicate (or fail to communicate) with one another.

I was delighted to speak to Joan a few weeks ago to discuss Damned Devotion and started by asking her how long she’d been working on the album…
