Record Store Day

We’re a month away from Record Store Day (18 April) and there appears to be a surprising consensus amongst fans that it’s really not that great for collectors. The regular occurrence of the collectibles appearing on eBay hours after the items go on sale, is both predictable and depressing. And of course you need to have a record store near you for the day to really ‘work’. I’m all for popping along to a local record shop and joining the queue at 7am and chatting to fellow enthusiasts, but count me out if I have to travel for an hour or more to a ‘major’ indie and camp out half the night to grab a seven inch single for £15.

Tori Amos / Little Earthquakes: CD versus LP cover art

For your attention… here’s some new images showing the forthcoming Tori Amos reissues. I had expected Warner’s forthcoming two-CD reissue of Little Earthquakes to revert to artwork used on the original vinyl record where the Tori-in-a-box image is much smaller, proportionally, than the CD version, but, assuming this packshot from Amazon is correct, they appear to have chosen to keep to the 1992 CD ‘revised’ artwork instead.

Now however you can pick up this 4CD+DVD+hardcover book package from Amazon Italy for less than £20!

This massive nine-disc set (5CDs, 2LPs and 2x 7″ singles) also comes with a 60-page book and poster and has cost on average around £100 since it was issued at the end of 2011. Now though, you can take advantage of a great price on Amazon Italy and grab a bargain by picking this up it for less than half price.

Deal alert / Fleetwood Mac: Rumours / 6-disc super deluxe box

Fleetwood Mac‘s Rumours super deluxe edition box set was released a couple of years ago and has always been decent value at around the £50 mark. However, if you haven’t pulled the trigger on this 4CD+DVD+LP box then perhaps a 40% reduction in that price on Amazon Germany may just entice you to do so.
