Concert For George was first released across a number of formats in 2003 and documented that emotional and rather joyous evening on 29 November 2002 when friends, family and former bandmates came together to celebrate the life and work of George Harrison. Almost 15 years after that release, it will be reissued next month, available for the very first time on 4LP vinyl and other formats, including new video-audio combo packs and a very exclusive deluxe box set.

In conjunction with the Zappa Family Trust, Universal music will next month issue The Roxy Performances, a definitive seven-CD box set that collects all four public performances of Frank Zappa‘s legendary Roxy Theatre concerts from December 1973 and adds the soundcheck and other bonus material.

More than a month ago the super deluxe edition of Roxy Music‘s 1972 debut was announced. Despite the excitement and cries of “at last!” some fans voiced legitimate queries about missing content (Virginia Plain’s B-side The Wanderer is not included and the expected Steven Wilson stereo mix hasn’t materialised) but it was the pricing of this four-disc box set that caused the real dissent amongst the diehards. Universal wanted £130 for this 3CD+DVD set. No matter how great the content and how high the quality of the book, that seemed like a lot of money for this four-disc celebration of a 45 year old album and rather out of kilter with similar box sets from other artists. So, since that time, has the price come down at all? Are there any good deals? SDE investigates…

Happy birthday to Sade Adu who is 59 today!
It got me thinking about the debut of Sade‘s (the band) debut album Diamond Life which was released in July 1984 (although it wasn’t issued until early 1985 in America). The album was a massive hit, going multi-platinum on both sides of the Atlantic and reaching number one in many countries. It won the Best British Album gong at the 1985 Brit Awards.
