The album features songs like David Bowie‘s ‘Let’s Dance’, a-ha‘s ‘Take On Me’, Simple Minds‘ ‘Alive and Kicking’, Echo & the Bunnymen‘s ‘The Killing Moon’ and many more eighties classics.

British rock band Family‘s recordings for the BBC are brought together for a special eight-disc deluxe set to mark 50 years since the band’s first album.
Family released seven studio albums between 1968 and 1973 and had a sound that evolved into a unique mix of blues, folk, jazz, psychedelia and high energy rock ‘n’ roll, built around the distinctive vocals of frontman Roger Chapman, Charlie Whitney’s innovative guitar playing and Rob Townsend’s intelligent drumming.
During that time the band recorded many sessions for the BBC including for programmes such as “Top Gear,” “Saturday Club,” “Colour Me Pop,” “In Concert” and various John Peel and Bob Harris shows.

National Album Day
It’s national album day today. I’m not sure who decided it was national album day, but chances are it was the same industry that has delivered Spotify and other streaming platforms that encourage people to listen to theme-based playlists and just sample ‘the best’ tracks from albums and quickly move on.
I’m not going to do anything gimmicky to ‘celebrate’ national album day, because I guess like many of you, EVERY DAY is an ‘album day’ for me. I love listening to music and love albums.

As the title suggests, The Best of Everything: The Definitive Career Spanning Hits Collection 1976-2016 is more focussed on ‘hits’ than rarities, although inevitably the record label has added a couple of unreleased tracks.

Revitalized is better than expected, but isn’t giving fans what they want
Expectations for Billy Idol’s Vital Idol: Revitalized – effectively a remix album of a remix album – weren’t high. Let’s be honest, when labels proudly tell us that a reissue includes ‘contemporary’ remixes, the heart sinks. Such content has no place within an anniversary reissue. It’s like a obnoxious stranger joining an old group of friends at the pub and laughing too loudly at the jokes. A case of “who are you again, and why are you here?”.
