Last day of SDE coverage of Amazon Germany’s Easter Deals. Today isn’t as good as yesterday, but still some decent sets including a 20-CD Johnny Cash box (9am), John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers 4CD set (11am), the excellent Monty Python‘s Total Rubbish 9CD extravaganza (11.30am) and a second chance to pick up the Nirvana Nevermind super deluxe or the ABBA The Albums 9CD box.

Jellyfish: Japanese mini-LP SHM-CDs

Omnivore’s Jellyfish deluxe reissues were great, but the packaging wasn’t really as good as it could have been, with the widescreen gatefold cover image used on the 1990 LP of Bellybutton missing completely! Thankfully, the Japanese versions embrace the detail and spirit of the originals.

Universal Music to replace faulty Simple Minds box set DVDs

Universal Music have put a process in place to allow fans who bought the Simple Minds Sparkle in the Rain super deluxe edition box set to get a replacement DVD which, in error, contained the Steven Wilson hi-res ‘stereo’ mix in mono.

Deal alert / Amazon Easter Deals

Amazon in Germany are celebrating Easter this week with lots of special ‘lightning deals’ and the good news is that there are plenty of music box sets on offer. Each deal will only last for a short period until the ‘allocation’ has reached 100%. Depending on the popularity of the item this can be minutes, although it’s not always a mad rush. Putting ourself on the ‘waiting list’ is also by no means a lost cause, so bear that in mind.

For the next few days on SDE there will be a ‘deal alert’ post that will UPDATE during the day as each new deal comes online. If you have signed up for the SDE Deal Alerts via Email service then you will get a timely email just before the deal goes live.

Record Store Day

We’re a month away from Record Store Day (18 April) and there appears to be a surprising consensus amongst fans that it’s really not that great for collectors. The regular occurrence of the collectibles appearing on eBay hours after the items go on sale, is both predictable and depressing. And of course you need to have a record store near you for the day to really ‘work’. I’m all for popping along to a local record shop and joining the queue at 7am and chatting to fellow enthusiasts, but count me out if I have to travel for an hour or more to a ‘major’ indie and camp out half the night to grab a seven inch single for £15.
