SDE exclusive Mansun CD single with rare audio

Mansun‘s 1997 album Attack of the Grey Lantern was reissued in the summer for as a four-disc deluxe book edition which included demos, rarities, outtakes, BBC sessions and a 5.1 surround mix (on DVD). This deluxe set (along with the double coloured vinyl edition) is now available to buy on the SDE shop and each order comes with a FREE, very limited and completely exclusive Mansun CD single!

Kankyō Ongaku / Japanese Ambient, Environmental & New Age Music

Light In The Attic have created a Japan Archival Series and this continues early next year with Kankyō Ongaku: Japanese Ambient, Environmental & New Age Music 1980-1990, an expansive overview of the country’s vital minimal, ambient, avant-garde, and New Age music – what can collectively be described as ‘kankyō ongaku’, or environmental music. This is the first ever fully licensed collection of this music outside of Japan and it features internationally acclaimed artists such as Haruomi Hosono, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Joe Hisaishi, as well as other pioneers like Hiroshi Yoshimura, Yoshio Ojima and Satoshi Ashikawa. This set is available as a 3LP vinyl box set or a deluxe 2CD book package.

Paul Mccartney / Wings Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway reissues CD, Vinyl, Box Set

Paul McCartney continues his ‘Archive Collection’ reissue series with two early Wings albums: Wild Life from 1971 and Red Rose Speedway from 1973. Both are issued as lavish super deluxe box sets (as well as all the other usual formats) and are also collected in an expensive Wings 1971-1973 limited edition box set that features additional books and audio. Incidentally, the US price for the Wild Life box has just dropped right down to $98 which is around £77. In the UK it’s £130!

Early next year Edsel will issue The CBS Singles Collection, a new Paul Young box set which includes every UK single issued on the CBS label as a CD single, packed with mixes, B-sides, instrumentals and even the odd unreleased demo. The box set also includes a DVD with all the videos which (issued on the format for the first time), and the first 1500 boxes come with a print SIGNED by Paul Young.

Kate Bush / Remastered albums in box sets CD, Vinyl

Two weeks after the first sets Kate Bush releases the rest of her remastered albums which are available separately or in box sets. These are the later period albums (Aerial to 50 Words For Snow) so arguably less exciting for some, but the fourth of four vinyl boxes and the second CD box have the considerable ‘carrot’ of rarities, including 12-inch mixes, B-sides and even a totally unreleased early demo called Humming. Remastered versions of Transformer (1972); Berlin (1973); Rock ‘n’ Roll Animal (1974); Coney Island Baby (1976); Street Hassle (1978) and The Blue Mask from 1982. The remastering was done under Lou Reed’s supervision, shortly before he died. The 17CD set is also discounted to €80.
