Saturday Deluxe / 16 February 2019

After around 18 months of faffing around, Paul McCartney had a great run at the end of 2018, with the excellent Egypt Station, the 50th anniversary reissue of ‘The White Album’ and then two excellent reissues of Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway, which were bundled into an expensive, but rather good, box set called Paul McCartney & Wings 1971-1973. Paul McCartney unveils Egypt Station ‘Traveller’s Edition’ box set

It’s strangely in keeping with its theme of travel and trains (at least for those of us in the UK) that Paul McCartney‘s Egypt Station box set arrives so late. Read on to find out the details of this limited set…

SDEtv: UK v Japanese CD packaging, featuring Trevor Horn’s new album

Is the demise of the CD a self-fulfilling prophecy? Record labels are sometimes guilty of either not issuing new releases on the format (see volume two of Sony’s Bruce Springsteen‘s album collection box set and yesterday’s Marvin Gaye announcement from Universal) or putting out a CD so lacklustre in terms of packaging and presentation, that even the most diehard physical music fan might start questioning their commitment to the format.
