McGear, the second album by Mike McGear, is reissued as a three-disc expanded deluxe edition (and on vinyl). This is effectively a Wings album with Mike singing. Brother Paul (or ‘our kid’ as Mike refers to him) co-writes most of the songs, with Denny, Linda et al supporting.

Saturday Deluxe / 13 July 2019

28 years ago today INXS played Wembley Stadium as part of their ‘Summer XS Tour’.

It was captured on film by David Mallet, who used 16 cameras (all 35mm) – including one in a helicopter – to capture the scale of the event and the band at the peak of their powers. It was issued on VHS at the time (and later DVD) along with the Live Baby Live album, although the latter used audio taken from various concerts from the tour.

David Bowie‘s 1969 single ‘Space Oddity’ was issued exactly 50 years ago today. To mark the occasion a special coloured vinyl edition of David Bowie – David’s 1969 album that was later reissued as ‘Space Oddity’ – is being made available only via Paul Smith stores.

In June 2017,  New Order returned to the stage at Manchester’s Old Granada Studios where Joy Division made their television debut on Tony Wilson’s So It Goes programme in 1978. That concert performance is now released as ∑(No,12k,Lg,17Mif) New Order + Liam Gillick: So it goes .. on limited 3LP coloured vinyl or as a two-CD package.

As engineer, mixer, co-producer or producer, Dave Bascombe has his name on the credits of many fine albums, including those by artists such as Tears For Fears, It’s Immaterial, Danny Wilson, Oleta Adams and Erasure.

In 1987, he worked on Depeche Mode‘s sixth album Music For The Masses as engineer and co-producer. With the recently issued 12″ Singles vinyl box sets of Music For The Masses and Black Celebration, SDE got in touch with Dave to ask him about the recording of the album…

If you bought the ‘Traveller’s Edition’ or ‘Explorer’s Edition’ of Paul McCartneys Egypt Station, you might be forgiven for thinking that you finally have a package that includes all the audio that Macca has officially put out in relation to his 17th studio album.
