GERMANY: Roxy Music 3CD+DVD super deluxe – €69 (about £60)
£125 when first released back in 2017, the Roxy Music super deluxe is now less than half that price over on Amazon Germany. It’s also €60 in Italy.
Late ’80s British indie band Pale Saints see their 1989 debut album The Comforts of Madness expanded and reissued on CD and vinyl formats, in January.

Apple Corps and Universal Music will issue The Singles Collection, a new Beatles box set that gathers all of their seven-inch vinyl single releases together in one box set.
BMG will issue Live at the Royal Albert Hall 1974 in February a Bryan Ferry live album that was recorded 45 years ago at the famous London venue.

The recently announced Roxymphony CD+DVD deluxe set from Roxy Music legends Andy Mackay and Phil Manzanera will now feature a DVD in the NTSC format, to allow US fans to enjoy the video content on the second disc.

Chris Murphy managed INXS from 1979-1995 before returning in 2009 with a self-proclaimed desire to re-energise the interest in the group by turning the band into a brand.
2017 saw the acclaimed Kick 30 reissue – featuring a Dolby Atmos surround mix by Giles Martin – hit the shops and this year has seen the release of Mystify: A Musical Journey With Michael Hutchence (a wonderful companion to the Mystify documentary) and a restored version of the Live Baby Live concert film which is receiving a theatrical run in the UK at the moment. The newly remixed soundtrack is out today.

David Bowie / Conversation Piece CD
There’s been a fair bit of Bowie grumbling this year – some of it legitimate – about the plethora of expensive vinyl sets, like The Mercury Demos. Further dismay ensued when it was clear that Parlophone has taken a break from the ‘era’ box sets, but actually the five-CD Conversation Piece, out on Friday, looks pretty good when examined in isolation. It’s effectively a super deluxe of the Space Oddity album.
New George Michael song released
With much fanfare (cue an oh-so-predictable premiere on the Zoe Ball breakfast show) a new George Michael song was unveiled on Thursday. ‘This Is How (We Want You To Get High)’ features on the soundtrack to the new Emma Thompson-penned romantic comedy Last Christmas. The film features a character obsessed with George’s music (Emilia Clarke’s Kate) and features Wham! and GM songs throughout.

In 2006 a-ha played in a back lot of London’s ExCel centre as part of the British International Motor Show. I was there, and while the band were excellent (they are rarely less than that), as fans congregated in this rather grim, tarmac setting, it was apparent that the show wasn’t a sell out and there was a good third of the capacity free. They may have been enjoying a mini-revival at that time – thanks to the UK top ten hit ‘Analogue’ (the title track from their 2005 album) – but the appeal of seeing a-ha play live didn’t stretch much beyond the diehard fans, it seemed.

These normally go for £60+ so this is a complete bargain.
