Pre-order blu-ray (with Atmos Mix) and coloured vinyl from the SDE shop

Pink Floyd founder member and keyboardist Richard Wright’s debut solo album, Wet Dream, is to be reissued in July.

The album has been remixed by Steven Wilson in Dolby Atmos, 5.1 and stereo for this release. The original mix does not feature on any of the three physical formats and all the new mixes include some extra passages of music that were edited out of the original.

Originally released between Pink Floyd’s Animals (1977) and The Wall (1979), Wet Dream was self-produced and Wright wrote all the songs (except ‘Against the Odds’, which was co-written with his then-wife, Juliette). Remarkably, the album flew under the radar was at best under appreciated, if not almost unnoticed at the time.

This reissue comes with brand new artwork that was commissioned and art-directed by Gala and Jamie Wright, Richard’s children and managers of his estate. As per the original vinyl release, the bi-fold sleeve folds out to extend the image and features the same vibrant colour palette. This time, the unidentified person in bright red shorts is swimming within deep blue waters of the sea rather than a pool and the image expands out to reveal a boat slightly out of their reach, referencing the nautical theme of the record. The image was taken by Costas Spathis, a photographer living and working in Greece, which is where the album was written and the graphic design is by Carl Glover. The original artwork was designed by Storm Thorgerson and photographed by Aubrey Powell for Hipgnosis and features in the vinyl booklet.

The formats are CD, transparent blue marbled vinyl and a blu-ray audio with the following content:

The blu-ray is presented in a blu-ray-sized book format with soft touch lamination and comes with four collectible postcards and an 8-page concertina booklet.

The CD is released on 28 July 2023, which would have been Richard’s 80th birthday. The vinyl follows later on 29 September 2023 and the blu-ray will be released on 20 October, all via Parlophone music.

ABC’s The Lexicon of Love on SDE-exclusive blu-ray audio

40th anniversary blu-ray audio • Steven Wilson Remixes • Limited to 5,000 units worldwide • Quick pre-order link

ABC‘s 1982 album The Lexicon of Love is to be reissued (belatedly) for its 40th anniversary and fans will be able to buy special vinyl editions and an SDE-exclusive blu-ray audio, No. 12 in the ongoing SDE Surround Series.

The band’s timeless debut is, undeniably, their defining album; it reached number one in the UK album charts and delivered three UK top 10 hit singles: ‘Poison Arrow’, ‘The Look of Love” and ‘All of My Heart’ with first single – the original version of ‘Tears Are Not Enough’ –  breaching the top 20 in late 1981. ABC also enjoyed US success with The Lexicon of Love, as ‘Poison Arrow’ and ‘The Look of Love’ did well on the Billboard Hot 100 (number 18 and 25 respectively) and the album reached the top 30, Stateside.

The Lexicon of Love sounds fantastic, thanks to the impeccable credentials of the ‘backroom’ team; it was produced by Trevor Horn, engineered by Gary Langan, with keyboards and orchestration by Anne Dudley. J.J. Jeczalik contributed some programming and Fairlight and Luis Jardim offered additional percussion. These names would go on to shape some of the best-sounding albums of the 1980s.

We can now add the renowned musician, songwriter and producer Steven Wilson to that list since he has remixed The Lexicon of Love in Dolby Atmos, 5.1 and stereo for this reissue, but before we get to that, let’s establish the formats for this re-release. They are as follows:

  • SDE-exclusive standalone Blu-ray Audio
  • 4LP vinyl + Blu-ray
  • Half-speed mastered vinyl LP

In case it’s not clear from the above, there is no CD version of The Lexicon of Love available as part of this 40th anniversary campaign!

In terms of what’s on the SDE-exclusive blu-ray audio, it very much mirrors what we did with the best-selling (and now sold out) blu-ray audio of Tears For Fears’ The Hurting. It includes FIVE versions of the album:

  • The Lexicon of Love – Steven Wilson Dolby Atmos Mix
  • The Lexicon of Love – Steven Wilson DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix (96/24)
  • The Lexicon of Love – Steven Wilson Stereo Mix in hi-res (96/24)
  • The Lexicon of Love – Steven Wilson Instrumental mix in hi-res stereo (96/24)
  • The Lexicon of Love – Original 1982 mix in hi-res stereo 96/24

All four Steven Wilson mixes are previously unreleased and an instrumental version of the album is entirely unheard (and fascinating!).

Here’s what Martin Fry has to say about Wilson’s work on this album: “…Part-alchemy and part-archaeology. Steven had unearthed all the magic that lay within the analogue tapes of the original recordings with dexterity and diligence, shining a light on all that lay inside. The mix is vivid and crystal clear. True to the spirit of what was on tape all those years ago”.

A point of detail: the blu-ray in the 4LP vinyl box offers the promo videos (including Mantrap) – these don’t feature on the SDE version. However, the blu-ray that comes with the vinyl box doesn’t include the original 1982 mix of The Lexicon of Love (it’s on the SDE disc in hi-res 96/24 stereo) so the disc in the vinyl box set has four versions of the album and not five.

Of course, the SDE-exclusive doesn’t require you to buy four vinyl records to enjoy the spatial audio mixes, which is a positive! This ABC blu-ray audio is No 12 in the ongoing SDE Surround Series and will be packaged the same as previous editions and ships with a free, collectible SDE Surround Series slipcase with the number ’12’ on the spine (the one in the vinyl box comes in a simple card sleeve).

Here’s the now traditional reminder as to why the blu-ray is highly recommended:

  • It’s the only way to enjoy the Dolby Atmos mix of the album via a physical product
  • You don’t need to sign-up to a streaming service such as Tidal or Apple Music to hear the spatial audio mix
  • The Atmos Mix on the Blu-ray is not compressed due to streaming bandwidth restrictions
  • You own the product, you are not renting it from a digital service provider
  • The Blu-ray audio is an excellent format for music and you don’t want to see it die off
  • Supporting SDE with these initiatives is leading to similar collaborations with labels/artists and we are keen to bring your more in the near future!

More R.E.M. vinyl reissues on the way

Craft Recordings will reissue two more R.E.M. albums on vinyl, in August and September.

Released in 2001, Reveal was co-produced with long-time collaborator Patrick McCarthy. It was something of a return to what you might call the band’s ‘classic’ sound and featured the singles ‘Imitation of Life’ (a UK top 10 hit) and ‘All the Way to Reno (You’re Gonna Be a Star)’.

Collapse Into Now is being reissued on vinyl

Accelerate from 2008 was the follow-up to Around the Sun, and opted for a more aggressive, purposeful sound. The band’s penultimate studio album was described by Rolling Stone as “one of the best records R.E.M. has ever made”. Discuss! It features the single ‘Supernatural Superserious’.

Both albums are pressed on 180-gram vinyl and come with a printed insert.

Accelerate and Reveal are released on 22 September (Accelerate was 25 August), both via Craft Recordings.

Rick Astley / Are We There Yet? CD with signed polaroid

Rick Astley‘s new album Are We There Yet? will be released in October and you can pre-order a CD version from Amazon in the UK which comes complete with a signed polaroid photo!

The 12-track album is Rick’s ninth studio album overall, and is the follow-up to 2018’s Beautiful Life. Like that record (and 2016’s 50), Astley has written, recorded, played and produced the album in his home studio in London. You can preview ‘Dippin My Feet’ below.

The Official Rick Astley Shop does have some signed options also, but only for bundles, vinyl and the deluxe CD, which has hardcover book packaging but no bonus tracks.

Are We There Yet? is released on 13 October 2023, via BMG.

Tracie! / Souls On Fire: The Recordings 1983-1986 (4CD box)

Paul Weller protégée Tracie (Tracie Young) toured with The Style Council and had two top 30 hits in 1983, including the top 10 single ‘The House That Jack Built’. She was initially signed to Weller’s Respond Records label and then later Polydor (for whom she recorded the unreleased second album No Smoke Without Fire).

This 4CD+DVD box set features both albums with loads of bonus tracks, plus rarities, remixes and live tracks. There’s even a DVD with promo videos, BBC TV appearances and a live performance in Japan in 1984. Possibly more ‘Tracie’ then anyone actually wants, but it’s extremely comprehensive!

Wham! Netflix documentary

A new documentary about Wham! is coming to Netflix, coordinating with the release of the forthcoming best of/box set The Singles: Echoes From The Edge Of Heaven.

I haven’t seen a preview yet myself, but I know a few people who have and I’m assured this is very good indeed; a proper examination which includes unseen footage from The Final and the Whamamerica! tour. There’s also clips of the ‘Everything She Wants’ video in colour, they get into the Wexler Mix of ‘Careless Whisper’ and so on.

The documentary is simply called Wham! and is directed by Chris Smith, the filmmaker whose credits include Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened and Jim & Andy.

Wham! arrives in Netflix on 5 July, preceded by screenings in some UK cinemas the week before. Watch the trailer below!

Paul McCartney clarifies AI Beatles song claim

Just under two weeks ago Paul McCartney claimed ‘AI’ has helped create a new Beatles song. This assertion certainly made headlines for the number of reasons, the first of which was that no one had any idea that a ‘new’ Beatles song was in the making! Also, what did he even mean? Has some ChatGPT-type software synthesised John Lennon’s voice or written some lyrics? It sounded worrying.

As it turned out, it was a typical bit of Macca headline grabbing promotion, mentioned primarily to help promote his 1964: Eyes of the Storm book. The ‘AI’ technology he was referring to had already been used on last years reissue of Revolver. It was an evolution of the imperfect ‘demixing’ technology by dialogue editor Emile de la Rey – from Peter Jackson’s Get Back team – who had apparently developed further the technology to separate voices and instruments that are fused together on a multi-track tape. I attended a Revolver playback session at Abbey Road Studios last year where Giles Martin demonstrated this to me and a small group of journalists. Guitars, bass and drums from ‘Taxman’ where all bounced down to one track and he demixing them on the fly to reveal the purity of the solo instruments. He then went further and with the drums on their own, ‘demixed’ the drum kit removing snare, cymbals until all we heard was one kick drum by itself. It really was incredible.

Anyway, the full story is that way back during The Beatles Anthology era in the mid-90s, having done two ‘new’ Beatles songs for Anthology 1 and Anthology 2 (‘Free As A Bird’ and ‘Real Love’), Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr were due to attempt a third Now and Then for Anthology 3. Except, as Paul told Q Magazine in 1997 “George didn’t like it”, or at least he thought the quality of John’s voice, or the demo in general, was “rubbish”. The usual Beatles ‘reverse democracy’ rule was applied (if one person doesn’t want to go ahead with something it doesn’t happen) and the idea was scrapped.

It’s now almost 30 years later and Paul clearly considers this unfinished business. Technology has progressed enough that he must have persuaded Olivia and Dhani Harrison (and Ringo for that matter) that George probably would have given his blessing if they could use the ‘demixing tools’ at their disposal today.

Two days ago Paul left the following statement on his social media channels:

“Been great to see such an exciting response to our forthcoming Beatles project. No one is more excited than us to be sharing something with you later in the year.

We’ve seen some confusion and speculation about it. Seems to be a lot of guess work out there. Can’t say too much at this stage but to be clear, nothing has been artificially or synthetically created. It’s all real and we all play on it. We cleaned up some existing recordings – a process which has gone on for years.

The wider question is what does a ‘new’ Beatles song mean for Apple’s Fab Four reissue strategy and Paul’s own Archive Collection releases? A Rubber Soul box set is widely expected later this year and McCartney fans are understandably getting more frustrated at the lack of Macca reissues; next month marks three years since the last Archive Collection reissue (Flaming Pie).

Kate’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ gets its billionth stream

Kate Bush’s 1985 single ‘Running Up That Hill’ is her first song to receive a billion streams, thanks to its success in 2022 after being used in Netflix’s Stranger Things which resulted in the track topping the charts in eight countries, including the UK for three weeks, Ireland for seven weeks and Australia for nine (non-consecutive) weeks. The song also reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100. Rhino in America even issued a brand new CD single which was not released anywhere else (bah!). As it turned out, this was the last physical Hounds of Love-related Kate Bush release from Warner Music as world rights for that album are now with The state51 Conspiracy.

Kate posted a rare(ish) message on her website saying she was “blown away” by this news and that the song has been on “an impossibly astonishing journey”.

Soft Cell find lost demos

Soft Cell have posted on social media about how some rare demos have turned up “completely out of nowhere”. As you can see by the image above, these are for their 1983 album The Art of Falling Apart. The band say they were discovered “41 years to the month” in the Universal Music archives. Fans will be hoping these surface at some point in the future on a deluxe edition or box set.

The Connells / Ring deluxe edition

Anyone who watched MTV in the early 90s would not have missed the heavy rotation of The Connells‘ single ’74-’75. The popular song was a top 10 hit across Europe and reached No 14 in the UK.

As it turns out, the North Carolina alt-rock band had a history that went back to 1985 and Ring, the 1993 album that features 74-’75, was actually their fifth long-player and Mitch Easter had produced 1987’s Boylan Heights.

The band built a following in the US and had a string of college radio hits, but ultimately while Ring received critival praise, it was only a modest commercial success and the follow-up single (the ‘New Boy’ EP) couldn’t repeat the ’74-’75 climb to the higher reachers of the charts. Therefore it’s hard to deny that, in most territories, The Connells are regarded as a bit of a one-hit wonder, however, that hasn’t stopped Craft Recordings from opting to give this record an impressive-looking deluxe reissue.

The album has been newly remastered (by Brent Lambert) for its 30th anniversary and the new 2CD deluxe edition include 21 bonus tracks, including rare B-sides and 12 previously unreleased demos. This comes with new sleeve notes from David Menconi with new interviews from the band.

A black vinyl version of the album will also be released (no bonus tracks) and a yellow vinyl edition is available via the band’s official store (US only).

Ring will be reissued on 11 August 2023 via Craft Recordings.

David Sylvian / samadhisound 2003-2014: Do You Know Me Now?

A new David Sylvian 10CD box set that focuses on his post-Virgin output will be released in August. samadhisound 2003–2014 Do You Know Me Now? contains all of David Sylvian’s solo albums issued between 2003 and 2014, plus the albums recorded with Nine Horses, Jan Bang & Erik Honoré and Franz Wright & Christian Fennesz. The set also contains an exclusive compilation CD, Do You Know Me Now? featuring non-album tracks recorded with Ryuichi Sakamoto and Nine Horses.

This new archival release is presented as a 10-inch deluxe set (think Lennon or Bobbie Gentry) and comes with a stunning 100-page hardcover book, art directed by Sylvian and with design and calligraphy by Chris Bigg. Photography is by Ruud Van Empel. The 10 discs are spread across three separate CD folio/folders and artist/musician Lance Austin Olsen has handled the design for these.

The book offers previously unseen artwork and contextual essays by David Sylvian and renowned graphic designer and author Adrian Shaughnessy on the visual aesthetic of the samadhisound label

Speaking of his time releasing music via samadhisound, Sylvian says “Although I personally maintain samadhisound is the home of my best work it was produced during a very turbulent period that precipitated some devastating changes in my life. I can’t gloss over this fact as it’s incorporated into, and informs the material in many ways. Maybe that’s why, after all this time, outside of any possible musical innovation, it remains so important to me.”

samadhisound 2003–2014 Do You Know Me Now? will be released on 4 August 2023 via UMR/samadhisound and is a D2C (direct to consumer) only, so it can’t be found via normal channels (Rough Trade, HMV, Amazon, JPC etc.). It’s available via David Sylvian’s web shop.

Billy Idol / Self-titled debut reissued

Billy Idol’s self-titled debut album has been remastered and expanded for a new reissue.

The 1982 album feature the singles ‘Hot In The City’ and ‘White Wedding’ which were top 30 and top 40 singles in America respectively (White Wedding was reissued in the UK in 1985 and was a top 10 hit).

This reissue presents the remastered album on both vinyl and CD. The 2CD edition offers an unreleased concert from the Roxy in Hollywood in 1982 and a “recently unearthed” and previously unreleased 12-minute Clubland Extended Remix of ‘White Wedding’.

Bafflingly, what we do not get are any 12-inch remixes of the singles, including the familiar – but immense – ‘Shotgun’ remix of ‘White Wedding (Part 1 and 2)’ which was expertly created by Gary Langan (of Art of Noise fame). ‘Dancing With Myself’ is also absent, and while it was rather tacked on the 1983 reissue of this record, it would have been a valid bonus track. These omissions, coupled with the jewel case presentation suggest ‘perfunctory’ rather than ‘passion’ when it comes to this project. There is a new Atmos Mix however, although it’s streaming only.

This Billy Idol reissue will be released on 28 July 2023 via UMe/Capitol. Amazon has an exclusive vinyl edition that comes with a litho print of alternative album artwork.

Belinda Carlisle’s first four albums are gathered together in a new deluxe set, Decades Volume One: The Studio Albums.

The albums in question are: Belinda (1986), Heaven On Earth (1987), Runaway Horses (1989) and Live Your Life Be Free (1991). Between them, these albums feature 16 hits, including ‘Heaven Is A Place On Earth’, ‘I Get Weak’, ‘Circle In the Sand’, ‘Leave A Light On’, ‘Summer Rain’, ‘(We Want) The Same Thing’, and ‘Live Your Life Be Free’.

The albums are presented in a DVD-sized ‘media book’ (aka casebound book) with 36 pages of lyrics, credits, annotations and photos. This is, apparently, the first in a series of deluxe sets of Belinda’s recordings.

Blur’s new album is being released on blu-ray audio

A Dolby Atmos Mix of The Ballad of Darren, Blur’s first album in over eight years, is being released on blu-ray audio and you have an early opportunity to secure your copy via the SDE shop.

Produced by James Ford and recorded at Studio 13 in London and Devon, The Ballad of Darren is the band’s ninth studio album, their first since the chart-topping The Magic Whip in 2015, with artwork featuring an image by British photographer Martin Parr. 

The blu-ray audio (no video content) will feature the immersive Dolby Atmos Mix and a 96/24 hi-res stereo version of The Ballad of Darren. Neither are available physically anywhere else. Both mixes are the 10-track version of the album, which features the first single The Narcissist.

To enjoy the spatial audio aspect, you’ll need a blu-ray player connected to an Atmos-compatible soundbar, or a Cinema-style amplifier/receiver with Atmos or 5.1 capability, rigged up to a multi-speaker set-up. If you currently have a 5.1 set-up, the Atmos Mix will ‘fold down’ to 5.1.

The Ballad of Darren has so far been made available to pre-order on a number of different formats (CD, deluxe CD, different coloured vinyl editions, zoetrope vinyl and cassette), so this blu-ray adds to the tally. Of course, with the Dolby Atmos Mix in particular, you are actually getting something different in terms of the audio. The mix was created by David Wrench.

Eric Clapton / The Definitive 24 Nights CD, Vinyl, Box Set, Blu-ray, DVD

Eric Clapton’s reputation has taken a bit of a battering in recent years, but back in 1991 he could do little wrong as this groundbreaking run of 24 concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall demonstrates. Each night featured him performing a career-spanning set with one of three lineups – a rock band, a blues band, or an orchestra conducted by Michael Kamen. This reissue offers EIGHT physical formats including 8LP vinyl and 6CD box sets both of which come with three blu-rays.

Prince / Vinyl albums reissued

Warner Music are repressing a series of Prince albums on vinyl for release in July and September.

The titles span a 16-year period and start with Prince’s 1978 debut For You, which marked the arrival of such a prodigious talent. The then 18-year old musician and wrote, performed, arranged and produced the entire album (with the exception of a co-write on single ‘Soft And Wet’).

Chronologically, the next vinyl reissue is 1988’s Lovesexy, Prince’s follow-up to Sign O’ The Times. Arguably, this features the last single from the purple one’s imperial phase, ‘Alphabet Street’.

‘Thieves in the Temple’ from Graffiti Bridge

Prince’s Batman album followed next from which ‘Batdance’ became Prince’s highest charting UK single since ‘Little Red Corvette’ five years earlier. Follow-up ‘Partyman’ reached No 14 and when issued in Japan, ‘Scandalous’ became The Scandalous Sex Suite, a 9-track mini-album.

The 1990 Graffiti Bridge film (directed by Prince) wasn’t well-received but the double album was his third chart-topper in a row in the UK and ‘Thieves in the Temple’ was a top 10 single. This is the only 2LP set in this reissue campaign.

The last album in the sequence of vinyl reissues is 1994’s Come. A classic ‘contractual obligation’ album, Prince cobbled this together and did zero promotion. ‘Letitgo’ deserved better as the single stalled at No 30 in the UK (not helped by a limp CD single with just one single edit of the song, while the USA got eight remixes on their disc!

These vinyl reissues are all released on 28 July 2023 except for Batman and Graffiti Bridge which follow on 8 September.

The band formed in the summer of 1981 when Terry Hall, Lynval Golding and Neville Staples broke away from The Specials. They went on to enjoy seven UK top 20 hit singles (two with Bananarama) and released two albums (The Fun Boy Three (1982) and Waiting (1983), the latter produced by David Byrne. The group disbanded in 1983.

The Complete Fun Boy Three includes 69 audio tracks (across five CDs) which brings together all the official recordings (albums/singles/b-sides/remixes/live and previously unreleased outtakes). The 27 track DVD (region 0 /NTSC) includes all their promo videos, Top of The Pops performances and a live concert from 1983.

This is packaged in a DVD-sized casebound book, with newly written sleeves notes by SDE contributor John Earls with contributions from the band and photographs.

Both albums are also reissued on vinyl (like the CD set newly remastered) and are pressed on red and blue vinyl respectively. A newly remastered version of their classic 1984 ‘best of’ is also available on 180g green vinyl.

The Complete Fun Boy Three 5CD+DVD deluxe set and the vinyl reissues are released on 4 August 2023 via Chrysalis.

NOW 12″ 80s: 1980

The Now That’s What I Call Music team is to release NOW 12″ 80s: 1980 a new 4CD set of 12-inch mixes which will be the first instalment in a brand new series.

The NOW team’s intention is clearly to work through the decade and there’s only one place to start and that’s at the beginning in 1980 when the 12” single was an increasingly essential part of the release schedule and would become even more so as the decade progressed. These extended versions, remixes, re-inventions – call them what you will – gave the dancefloor a longer version and the home listener an alternative take on a song.

NOW 12″ 80s: 1980

This new 4CD set (there’s no vinyl edition) offers 45 tracks with Disco still very much the dominant genre when it came to remixes. This new compilation includes tracks from Lipps Inc., Change, Odyssey, Donna Summer, Kook & The Gang, Diana Ross, Sister Sledge and more. Of course, 1980 sees the beginning of the New Romantic era and that can be seen via extended versions of songs from Spandau Ballet and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (even if the OMD track was issued on 10-inch at the time). Jimmy Somerville / Read My Lips reissue

Jimmy Somerville’s debut solo album, Read My Lips, is being reissued in September.

The 1989 album featured three top 30 UK singles, including ‘Comment Te dire Adieu’ (with June Miles Kingston) and Jimmy’s version of Sylvester’s ‘You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)’ (which reached No 5).

Previously reissued as a 2CD set by Demon in 2012, this reissue from London Records is available as a single LP (the original 10 track album on blue vinyl) and as a deluxe double LP on transparent vinyl with remixes from William Orbit, AMYL and B-sides and rarities such as ‘From This Moment On’ (from Red, Hot + Blue) and ‘I Believe In Love’ (with Arthur Baker and The Beat Disciples).

A new double CD version contains further remixes from Gerd Janson and Arpeggius; as well as unreleased demos, B-Sides and rarities. The reissue includes new sleeve notes by Paul Burston.

If you buy a bundle from the official Jimmy Somerville shop, it comes with a free 6-track CD single of ‘You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)’ with what looks like all new remixes.

Stevie Nicks / Complete Studio Albums & Rarities

Complete Studio Albums & Rarities is a new 10CD box set featuring the solo output of Stevie Nicks. The singer-songwriter has released eight solo records since her 1981, and was the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, first as a member of Fleetwood Mac and then as a solo artist in 2019.

The box set features the following eight albums, with half of them newly remastered (from the analogue tapes):

  • Bella Donna (1981)
  • The Wild Heart (1983)
  • Rock a Little (1985)
  • The Other Side of the Mirror (1989)
  • Street Angel (1994)
  • Trouble in Shangri-La (2001)
  • In Your Dreams (2011)
  • 24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault (2014)

Additionally this box set features two CDs of Rarities; 23 hard-to-find recordings, including non-album tracks such as contributions to film and television and B-sides. These have also been remastered.

As well as the 10CD box, there will be a limited-edition, 16LP version, but that will be exclusive to Rhino.com (in the UK and USA). Street Angel, Trouble in Shangri-La, and In Your Dreams will all receive their vinyl debut as part of this set. The rarities package will be a 3LP set in what is a clear vinyl box set.

Depeche Mode / Sounds of the Universe: The 12″ Singles

Depeche Mode continue their 12″ Singles box sets with a seven-record package devoted to their 2009 album Sounds of the Universe.

As with some of the more recent boxes, some of these 12-inch records – three of them to be precise – are newly compiled from CD singles of the day and feature B-sides and various mixes. The singles from this album were ‘Wrong’, ‘Peace’, the double A-side ‘Fragile Tension’ / ‘Hole To Feed’.

Paul Hardcastle’s tenure at Chrysalis Records is celebrated with a new 4CD box set called Nineteen And Beyond: 1984-1988.

During this time, Paul had four top 20 UK singles including the international chart-topping smash, 19. The box set includes remastered editions of Hardcastle’s two albums (Paul Hardcastle and No Winners) and two discs of rare mixes and B-sides.
